Winning At Window Cleaning

I never said H should get the book.

My argument never was that.

I'm just saying he shouldn't dismiss other area's where information is offered.

If he got it you know he's only going to come on here and say it wasn't worth it and didn't help him.

I found it helped me understand how I need fixed rates for new jobs, they need to pay their way and then make me a profit.

I incorporate that into my pay structure of making money per hour, and having a total I need for the day.

It's a case of not just going on the information Richard gives, but using his knowledge to advance what you already know about business.

Some of what he wrote I knew, but never used the information correctly, and going through it afresh with my procedures means my business now has an improved vision.

£34.99 is a lot for a book, but when you consider that this book is for business use, and will help you earn more money and save time (and ofcourse go through the business books) then it makes sense.

I spend £30+ a week on diesel for my van so for me it was an easy decision to buy a book just for window cleaners, when I've looked and theres nothing else out there.
I think ill pich this up in a fortnight, I NEVER read books. I dont think I have ever read a full book. Ill give it a go though.

You lucky **** I spend 50+ Ive seen me go though a full tank in a week lol

It’s not a novel, you can flip through it and read sections highlight them and apply what is said or put your own take on it, to improve your business.

I tried to keep the book as brief as possible, I think it is less than 24,000 words. I can easily read it in 2 hours.

Its said on average you remember 10% of what you read, so maybe it’s a good idea to read the book (or sections) a few times.

I tried to write in a way that it focuses the reader into thinking more themselves about pricing – I don’t tell you what you should be charging for window cleaning - if you think of any other questions you should have enough knowledge - after reading the book - to be able to workout the answer for yourself and make decisions concerning your business more confidently.

Marc, email me, and I can send you a paypal invoice.

With VIP discount (around £15.00) I think someone said the book is £19.95 p&p is £3.95 total £23.90

Richard

Yeah it doesn't go and say you need to charge £1.00 per upstairs window and 75p downstairs it's more of tool to help you reason with realities of business expenditures and the realities of the hours you're going to work.

It also shows you need to focus your attention on building not just a short term profitable round but a round which can stand the test of time and grow at increase. Instead of working more hours for the same wage, working the same hours for a better wage.

When most window cleaners price a job up do they take into account every expenditure which results from taking just ONE job?

I know have a much better idea of how to manage my business moving forward from this book.

And no, Richard isn't paying me to comment, I just stand by the book being value for money to me. And how at £35 you aren't being ripped off.

No need to apologies mate, it did make me laugh.

Dodger, can you email me the/your delivery address for the forum brush? [email protected]

I will send it to you this Monday. It’s been so long I can’t remember which brush it was, if I get the chance I will read the post again before I send it! I think it’s the Hybrid brush.

Richard
Email sent Richard, cheers again I'm looking forward to trying it as are a few others I think.

Thanks masons,

Writing a book isn’t easy, then you have to ask people to pay to read what you have written (you wont know if its any good until then); even though the book has been out for a couple of years now, its still refreshing to hear readers get what the book is all about.

Maybe in a year or two you can post on how much the book has benefited you financially.

Richard

I have been reading this for a while now and have already made past comments on another thread but will add my opinion anyway.

I have this book and have read it cover to cover. I expected it to be a little more comprehensive and with more information. The book is certainly not a novel, it has less then 40 pages I think if memory serves me right and contains some very basic business information on running a business. What is a cost, expense etc.

I have to be honest after reading it the feeling of "is that it then??" came to mind. This book only points out some very obvious points which most people on here seem to have the knowledge and common sense in their possession. There are far better books out there for that price tag. Just a couple for example "Running a small business" in staples £9.99 and "Basic Health & Safety" again £9.99.

Be under no illusion you might pick up a couple of tips that in time might gain you your money back. But those tips are on this site for free and this book will not turn your business into a multi van empire! It's not worth £34.99, maybe £9.99 but hats off to Richard for writing one.

Jamie thanks for the review.

You probably do know more than others, but you cant assume everyone may know what you already know.

I disagree that you will get this kind of pertinent information from a general business book or H&S book!, but you might possibly find the information on the net, if you spend a few years looking and reading.

Even though its sounds liked you picked up a couple of tips from the book, other than those, can I ask how did you price before you read the book and what methods you use to increase nets profits from you round? Its easy to comment after, so it would have to be in your own words. If not where did you get the information from?

Richard
