Solar Panel Brush?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

We just use the widest heads possible with plenty of jets. Water, not the brush is the key.....

For you guys who clean solar panels as well as windows what brushs do you use for solar panels, Are they different from w.c brushs?

Also poles, I understand I need a much bigger pole, and depending on the size of the house depends on the length of the pole, but could anyone recommend a pole for the heights needed, I don't want to invest, rock-up to a house the pole don't reach and I have to buy another one.

I would feel a size around 40-50ft would be playing it safe, I don't mind spending £300-£400 on this particular peice of equipment, as long as dont have to spend more money few months later on another high building/solar panel pole. but this doesn't include price of brush either.

Many many thanks everyone, I promis once I have all my kit and starting up I will leave you all be lol.

Regards!

I’ve spoken to a few firms who make / fit solar panels, they tell me the glass is self cleaning glass. The glass does have a coating, so no chemicals. You might want to check with the owner.

Choose a brush that has a finner monofilament that’s absorbant like a Nylon filament, (you will waste a lot of time using a non-absorbant filament brush) or better still a Boars Hair Brush.

They don’t take long to clean. Use a good water flow rate, rinse off loose dirt/grit, give the water time to do its work and gently clean, rincse, clean etc. Even the worse soiled solar panels can be cleaned in a few minutes, if it takes longer than this, you have the wrong type of brush.

I would go for a pole with the least flex.

I've not heard of any wfp cleaners being electrocuted yet but still concerned it could happen. Only need to get one faulty solar panel as they are set in parallel which would be enough DC current to kill I would have thought.

Has any proper research been done on how safe they are to clean using water & a pole?

yer that could happen i guess they are always producing electric even if they are turned off inside the property.

pure water dosent conduct electricity so that will be ok, depending what pole u use it could go through that,

personaly, not really looking that far into it

Interesting ,,,If pure water doesn’t conduct electricity how does a tds meter work then?

A TDS meter is basically a electrical charge (EC) meter whereby two electrodes equally spaced apart are inserted into water, and used to measure charge. The result is interpreted by the TDS meter and converted into a ppm figure. If water contains no soluble materials and is pure, it will not conduct a charge and will therefore have a 0 ppm figure. Conversely, if the water is full of dissolved materials, it will conduct a charge, with the resulting ppm figure being proportional to the amount of dissolved solids. This is because all dissolved solids have an electrical charge, which allows conduction of electrical charge between the electrodes.

Just found this to prove you are correct but don't fancy throwing a toaster into me bathtub of water to prove he's right /emoticons/biggrin.png
