just because someone is on a roof, does not mean they need safety harnesses, fall arrest kits or anything else in order to work safely, YOUR ALLOWED TO WORK ON ROOFS, GET OVER YOURSELF!

that is all
Clearly the law thinks otherwise. Do people often fall off roofs? No, just the once

i got sacked from one custy who wos aeral riger self emplod cos i dis agred with his satament that cos hes self emplod he dident have to com pliy wih HS

dummy? mate you cant even string a sentence together! complete keyboard warrior constantly looking for arguments on working at height issues, its pathetic!

yes in some instances fall arrest harnesses are required, but in most cases there not, if you had any common sense you would understand that, you are allowed to work on roofs without one in many many cases.

im not gonna comment any more cos there is no debate with either of you, you both chat sh*t about things you know nothing about, im not suprised the bloke sacked you from cleaning his windows. your an idiot!

this is where you are worng, to comply with the 'Work at Height Regulations 2005.' you have to wear fall arrest/assist or any other safety equipment to stop you falling off the roof, if you are seen by h&s officer or someone taking a picture/video of you working up there and sent it to h&s you will be taken to court and fined for the breach of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

so you have to have a safety harness on any roof? what about a flat roof? or what if there is scaffolding around the building? what if its a short term 5 minute repair? do you need to wear a safety harness on all of those examples? i doubt it

so you have to have a safety harness on any roof? YES

what about a flat roof? Yes unless there are fitted safety rails around.

what if there is scaffolding around the building? Yes even when you use scaffolding your still ment to wear it.

what if its a short term 5 minute repair? 5 minutes or 24 hours, you still need to wear one.

do you need to wear a safety harness on all of those examples? Yes unless there are other safey features being used to stop falls!

hahaha! i can assure you you do not need to wear a fall arrest harness on a flat roof! what world do you live in? its amazing you manage to get any work done at all, i bet you wear a harness climbing the stairs

to comply with the 'Work at Height Regulations 2005 you do or have a gard rail round. when you know the regulations get back to me!

lol, ok, i think we'd better agree to disagree on this one, but i do think you take things too far, and i know your gonna say 'but thats what you have to do to protect yourself and comply with insurance', blah blah, im safe in my work practice and thats all i need to worry about

up to you, but if you think you dont need it then you are not safe in ur work practice. its amazing on how little people in general know about how to work safely and comply with the law.

lol, believe me i know how to work safely, walking on a flat roof to clean a couple of upstairs windows when you have done a risk assesment of the relative dangers and condition of the roof etc, is safe, you can say what you like, but it is safe, dont make out like i work in some kind of unsafe manner just because i dont follow the exact letter of the (often over zealous ) H & S manuels, like you do

a risk assesment dose not make the roof safe at all. if you do the risk assesments propery and like they should be it will can for the correct safety equipment to be used.
