Tried my new RO system out today. Had to laugh. Set it all up. Had water running through. Had the waste tap open & nothing would come out apart from waste water. When I shut it the waste water tap off pure water started trickling out & when I say trickle it did half a litre in half hour. I would have been there till next week. Am I doing somet wrong. Does the waste tap need to be open all the time. If so nothing comes out. Shoul it be closed? Surely after half hour it should of been conning out a bit faster as it was pouring out the waste pipe. It's a 4 stage 50gpd RO system. And please no one tell me I should have got bigger as only use about 200 litres a month. I went back to my Twin DI's in the end. Also the water coming out was only 008ppm. Any ideas chaps.

50 GPD??

I don't know much about RO to be honest mate, but the one I was looking at was 200GPD for about £230

50GPD means it wont make that much, the higher the gpd the faster it makes it right? (someone back me up here)

Put DI vessal after the RO, as it will get down to 000ppm

How much did it cost you?

BTW I prob use less pure water then you, but still looking at the 200gpd ro.

Posh how often do you use wfp?

Are you like me and use it for hard to reach windows, then trad the rest(well am using for commercial too)

A mate bought it but didn't use it as he had a system put in his van. It only cost me £25 but it was brand new still in its box. My idea was to put a di after it but if you had seen the trickle if I had put my DI after it I'd have been there till Xmas lol. Surely even tho its only 50gpd why would it be slower. As I said I don't need much water. Like you G I don't know much about em.

Yes mate exactly that. I do have 2 4.5 litre DI's that I use which are fine but I though this for £25 would help me out more.

Mine is a pumped 200gpd and it takes 3 minutes to make one litre of pure.

So urs being 50gpd which is 227lts a day. Should produce about 9lts an hour.

Are u still having problems with it?

Yeah I tried it again & it just trickles. 9 litres an hour. Bigger me ill be there all day lol. Is there any way to make it faster. 3 hours to fill 1 drum so my 6 will take 18 hours with a hose conning out my flat window. Maybe I'll put it away & maybe when I move or if I can connect it to an outside tap & leave it. Stick to the DI's for now me thinks. Shame coz when I tried it again an hour ago the Tds is now 0.00pm.

Yer that's the problem with a static RO system they are slow at filling up. Have you got a private garden?

No. Well yes but my girlfriends mum thinks she will get a big water bill less her. I've tried to tell her but don't work lol.

thats a shame then could of got a 220lt barrel and let it fill up over the day while you was at work.

you could tell her that you will fit a meter and pay for what you use??

i have had a 200gpd un pumped that made 12l an hour

a 450gpd with boosterpumps that made 60l an hour

and a 600gpd with boosterpumps that makes 90l an hour

so from my experience a 50gpd will only dribble out water

Hi Guys, Could someone explain what gpd stands for? wfp is new to me and i'm trying to learn as much as poss before making a purchase. Thanks
