Hi I am just wondering what you Guys use to get Really Dirty Windows Clean , Also what you would not use would be helpful as well , I am using Ubik 2000 and Adding Washing up Liquid with Water Mix  , I add the Washing up liquid so it holds to the Glass better when applied , Any new ideas will be greatly appreciated .

I think most of us use Virosol/Ubik/Screwfix De-Greaser with good success, Sodium Hypoclorite would be the next step up for plastics but needs more precaution in use.

Mostly, our ordinary, fairly dirty first washes just get extra water and a good scrub.

Really bad ones might get a squirt of our mix from a hand sprayer (Chemex Superplus and Fairy Liquid) as might the doors.

Really bad upstairs windows might be dealt with by having some of the mix sprayed onto the brush and spread between them before scrubbing in, followed by a thorough wash and rinse. This can make a huge difference, especially on the frames, sills and doors.

Hi Martyn thanks for the reply , I thought the Hypoclorite was for use on Driveways and patios , I take it when Used on Conservatories or other Parts of the Home that have heavy Moss or Grime you have to be extra Careful with the Glass .

Plenty of water, would have to be very bad to use hot water. Never used, or needed to use, chemicals to clean glass.

Only use chemicals on fascia, UPVC.
Thanks Part Timer , I am a newbie still as you know ,  bloody hell I was using Hot water in the Summer , its so Much Easier I find , and you tell me you hardly use it .

It can't harm ordinary glass, probably can't harm self cleaning glass but if it dries on the glass it will be a B to remove. The problem is it can harm plants and other vulnerable surfaces and has a nasty habit of turning your clothes pink.

On the other hand if you have really bad plastics it is the best, it can be applied by dipping your brush in a bucket rather than spraying, thereby avoiding getting it where you don't want it.

Hi Davy thanks yeah thats what I do with my Mix , on the upstairs I spray mine directly on the brush for the upper windows to get the tough dirt from the sills especially,  I try the Chemex and Fairy mix as someone i know Uses that and he swears by it . Thanks

Very rarely as it's not required on 99% of my work. Even the 6 monthly Balham job is done with cold water.

Getting a new contract that will all be cleaned first time with warm water. Probably about 3 weeks worth of 1st cleans spread over 3 months.

We have hot water on the side of the van, doesn't state we use it every time. You being in, fairly, central London your maintenance washes won't be any quicker using hot water. Give it a go to see for yourself.

First cleans is bad we use 10-1 mix of Virosol and hot water that will remove most things , sometimes use a soft wash mix if loads of algae to kill it off in all the joints and recesses

Thanks Pjj yeah the mix i do is about 10-1 I only add the washing up liquid as it holds to surfaces better . The Virosol is citrus based thats probably a lot safer around the gardens
