Hi all I'm going to order my wfp pole tomorrow but not sure what size to get. I don't want to carry excess weight around so was thinking of maybe getting one of the shorter poles and getting the extensions for when I need them. So which size pole do you advise getting for the average day and what should I get in the way of extensions for higher jobs??

an 18ft pole does most houses, but there are the odd times you do need a little longer, so i think a 22ft if you can.

i have a 32ft pole and that goes upto 4 storey.

Get the longest one you can afford & the extra end caps, that way you can take off sections as and when needed, although I find a clx 27 comfortable to use for a days work.

if your only doing residential work like RC says, 22ft is fine.

We use 22ft to get to 3 storeys with a 12ft extension to go to 4 storeys.....

What you dont want to do in my opinion is to buy a big 30ft+ pole thinking it will be great as you can use it for anything..... as you dont want to be using such a big pole on small jobs....

Base pole + the extensions is a good way (although tbh, i find the extensions a pain in the @ss, but hey hoe, we still use them.

Next year we're going to be looking at buying in quite a range of poles so we have the right sizes for specific jobs. I believe it makes a massive difference making sure you've got the right equipment for the job. Take time to make sure you get it right.

I can't really afford to buy more than 1 pole hence going for a shorter one for most jobs and just get the extensions out as and when I need to!!

Thanks all, mind made up!!

Just one thing though! You can get them with brushes fitted. What are the gardiner brushes like? Was thinking of getting it fitted with a standard dual trim!

I got a dual trim sill brush (white) and I love it, 10x better than the stiff red one, coupled with a standard 10" gooseneck!

I may have got my wires crossed but if you watch they're wfp demo videos on the gardiner website they explain the different extensions you can get! I'm guessing you can get them for the slx.

where do u get pole extensions from for my slx ?
We do not specifically sell them as SLX extensions - they are basically spare sections from the larger sizes of poles (SLX35, SMAX40, SMAX47 etc) - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/sl-x25-35-super-max40-47-replacement-sections.html

For instance if you are currently using an SLX25 and want to extend by 5ft you could add a base section from an SLX30, or if you want to extend by 10ft you could add a base and section 6 from an SLX35. If you have an SLX22 you could add a base section 6 from an SLX30 which would give you a 27ft length pole.

This is probably the Xtreme WFP range that you have been watching. As explained above though it is very simple to add another section or two to the poles if needed.

ok thanks for the info Alex. I will be ordering mine today!

Alex i have the supermax 50, am i right in thinking its only the compact models that have the slx sections? Does that mean the 50 is a different spec? Tbh i only bought it for the slx 35 but i thought may aswell get the extra sections, but im now wondering if i shoulda gone for the 47?

The Super-Max50 uses longer section than the SLX and compact SMAX range. However you can still remove sections and use a shorter lighter pole - putting the other section back on when required. The only downside to working like this is that you lose the insulated handle section.

If you remove 3 sections you should be left with about a 32/33ft pole.
