Are Customers Still Living In The Age Of £5 A House ?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Went to price up a house tonight decent sized semi as the pic shows .

But on the back there is an extension with a 5ft window leaded and then the window above is about the same size

then 2 more bay windows too .

gave her me price £12.00 glass , frames , sills , doors .

immediate response NO !!! way way to expensive i only want to pay a fiver .

my response was erm no i wouldn't make anything if i was doing it for that , she said "well if you do mine you can get both my neighbors so there's £15"

my response was " it's still no " so she slams the door in my face and off i trundle !!!

where do these people come from ????

The answer is no ( but some customer think £5 is the going rate)

Go where the money is.

The more window cleaners understand about pricing, it will be better all round.

Customers might still want there windows cleaned for £5 or even less, but ultimately its up to window cleaners not to provide that.

do you have a price scale list that covers across different citys ect you seem to have a good business mind but id like to see a general sort of pricing sceme a ruff example of how to price i know some say £1 a window ive been doing them at around 80p a window then round it of to the nearest £.

Its all part of the job, we all get the "Funny, or wierd" ones just ignore the TW** and knock next door. It Would be funny to get next door ..

I have some reshearch but nothing as extensive as you would like to see, its not needed anyhow. The price’s are only relevant to that particular business; it’s easy than you think to compete with another window cleaning business with much higher overheads – select your work, select your prices look at your profit margins and hours worked with cost, refine your cleaning method that’s why I made the Aerial brushes, they do clean faster, if you have a competative advantage make full use of it.

£1 a window, or less, or more, is fine as long as it is based on more than saying ‘£1 a window’, that dosent mean anything on its own, you need to look at your business and see how that window price fits in.

Very true. Really need to get a copy of that darn book lol

Well your welcome to buy a copy Clean n Simple.

I don’t know how long you have been window cleaning; in a response you gave to the question in this thread – you said you will clean the fronts for £6 – when do you think you/your business will move on from this level of pricing? (If you haven’t already)

Now if you already know the answer, you may not need the book.

i f u c k i n g total agree with you ritch and i think that your 1000000000000000000000% right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there something wrong with this?

I charge many custies £5 as that is the most I can get out of them (as a starter) but plan on putting these £5 houses up by a pound in the new year.

People are tight, and people think am a bargin, iv heard custies paying more for a **** service, or cause of resession are cutting back on even things like window cleaning and bin cleaning

For me I charge low just to get in the door so to speak to aswell, and I need to prove I can do a good job.

also if by charging fiver a house and I do 4 houses an hour then thats £20!

Some days I get £40 for working two hours then am off home or out canvassing etc, way I see it is look for a job that I cant get, or do this,£40 a day is better then £50 a week on dole!

People start to think you rip em off if I charge higher, sometimes I do try charge higher and they like what?!?!

Like someone said its only window cleaning, and if am making £20 an hour(roughly sometimes make more sometimes make less) then am a happy chap!

It's whatever suits you Graham not anyone else where pricing is concerned, I've got to be honest though mate I started pricing about same as you but realising that I CAN get more around here I'm edging the average price up. I've already dumped all the ones that were outrageously low if they wouldn't agree to a rise and I'll dump more when it suits.

Oh yeah,I do regret charging fiver on some houses, because they have a conny on the back and due to being daft/forgetfull, (when starting off a few months back) forgeting to tell custie price will be higher with conny, but forgot about that so when I clean that house am like dam, this needs to be higher...

but that will go up next year! /emoticons/biggrin.png

Its about proving i can do good job, and proving i am professional about it too.

Nothing wrong with it, onwards & upwards.

40 a day may be better than the dole, personally I think the benfit system is fine it’s the working man that gets ripped off. You have much more than £40 or more a day, what you have is a huge amount of potential more than most people who have a job, just don’t have.

Keep at it, customers do pay more, dont judge them, you just have to find them.

Richard
