It does freeze faster, I think it will help using warm water but not hot water. it somethins is told cold and is gets heated up to quickly. It will crack
Yer the water won't be hot it will only be warm. Not sure how warm or cold it will be until I get it

reading these post has made me think perhaps I should just get a "immersion heater" and drop it in my 1000 L tank outside and run it on a timer so its nice and warm in the morning and pump a few hundred litres into the van tank.

and at the same time use a cheap 300w fish tank heater in the van tank so its warm for the first few hours in the morning.

Basically when I did trad in the beginning of the year i noticed that the water on the glass freezed first thing in the morning but after say 9 or 10 you could work fine. It also counts where you live... London is not that bad.

Don't forget it's only the element part u need in the water, the other part isn't waterproof! Lol

The cold temp makes the rubber harder to doesn't it?

Oh, thanks. maybe then it might be better to just get 2 fish tank heaters. The water does not have to be HOT just warm enought so it doesnt freeze...

No problem. If you are any good at diy etc You could cut a hole in the side of the tank and fit the immersion heater into the side,

No it don't enough to keep it above freezing temp

Three winters ago my statics & van tanks turned to big blocks of ice for about two weeks. Did I bother to mess about trying to defrost them? NO as I was snowed in so could not work anyways even if I wanted two /emoticons/biggrin.png

There are times when you just have to say sod it and go back to bed
