Good afternoon,

I have had a look through the forum and I cannot see a related thread already going so my apologies if I have missed it!

I have 'PS/P5?' showing up on my screen on the fitted tank which usually says DE and the pressure number I have it set to alternating.

I am unable to get my van to the installer due to his diary being busy this week and I was wondering if there are certain things I should be checking to make sure it isn't something I can fix?

Many thanks for any advice in advance, it it much appreciated!

Bypass the pump controller , 12v straight to the pump and give it 30 seconds and then connect pump controller back up as normal. I had the same issue

Have a read of this : DE ( Dead End ) Why set it

It details how to calibrate the controller.
Basically the pumps have a pressure switch (PS) wired in series with the motor so if a pressure above the set one is seen the pressure switch cuts power to the pump.
So it sounds like you have air in the system (pumps not good at pushing air) or the calibration needs doing.

Hi Christian

PS on the controller indicates that the Pump Pressure switch has activated. High pressure builds up in the system and the pump pressure switch opens stopping the pump. The controller shows PS to advise what has happened.

1. I note that you would normally see DE when a pole valve is closed and I am guessing that in this case when the valve is closed the controller is showing PS instead. If that is the case it may be that your flow rate is very high (90 + ) and Calibration is also high this will mean that the controller is slower to respond to a tap being closed and the pump runs building up pressure to the point where the pressure switch opens. IF when opening the valve again the pump starts and PS goes off then it is very likely to be the above. In that instance I would suggest turning the flow rate down a little and then running auto cal

2. IF PS shows with the valve open and unexpectedly there could be a blockage or air getting into the hose. Check hose connectors are secure, That any valves are not sticking closed. Also Blocked brush jets, Twisted or Kinked hose can cause high pressure.

3. The controller carries out an electrical test on the pump to check it is connected. If there is a loose wiring connection, damaged wire, Connector or corroded fuse/fuse holder this can mean the pump is no connected so it is worth checking the wiring. Connectors should be water resistant an secure, Avoid using white connector blocks which have exposed terminals and will get wet, Connections with electrical tape can pull apart when the van is moving.

All that said based on your comment about normally seeing DE its likely that flow rate and Cal is very high

Ok, thank you for the reply

If it was showing P5, and dead ending before, then I doubt it. If you have a really bad airlock then stick a pipe on the end of the outlet pipe on the pump and suck it whilst running it on full flow.

You also need to check every connection from the tank to the pump as the hose softens in warm weather and the jubilee clips do need nipping up a bit right throughout the year otherwise air will into the pump also if Cal is too high this can cause an issue and give a PS reading,

I sometimes get PS flash up through the day and then DE I haven't got my act together and done auto cal but it's not easy on your own with a 45ft pole and needing to be at the back of the van, I might just do it with my 27ft pole as I don't often use the 45
