What do you guys find are the best ways of gaining work ?

I am planning an attack and just after ideas of getting work every spare minute of the day from now on

I have a comfortable round at the moment but I want more from this business .

Yup, canvassing all the way.

Just out of interest, how did you get started and how did you get to the stage you are at today?

Couldn't do my last trade due to Ill health .

Got all my customers from canvassing , word of mouth just seem to have dumped more than I have kept at the moment .

Sometimes when you're just starting in a new area, you will pick up allot of the ones that other cleaners have steered clear off, for one reason or another. If the main reason you're dropping customers is not getting them in, or not getting paid. Then there is a few things you can do there, to try keep a hold of them.

Do you find that is the case?

Get a website thats SEO. (By far my main source of work)

Advertise on Facebook, all the for sale groups. (second source of work)

Local News letters (third source of work)

There my 3 ways that work for me, It will probably b different for you though

It's the not today brigade or the let's pretend we are not at home but left all the windows open lights on an tv on

That I keep dumping and the oh it's going to be raining a week Tuesday can you come back a week after then .

I had 2 or 3 that would never answer the door when I go collecting, they knew I was there cause I park the van right in from of there window. Yet they still dont answer the door... I did a H on them lol.

Sadly there will allway be people like this

Just be firm pal, tell them its on a monthly basis or not at all. With the not in the rain customers, I just tell them, your windows be cleaned to the same standard, raining or not, we guarantee the rain won't get your windows dirty, if there is a problem, we will re-clean them, or give you your money back if they're still not happy.

With the ones that say not today, I just tell them straight, we ask for 48 hours notice before canceling your windows. If we have already driven out to you, then we will have to charge you a call out charge, or suspend your service.

Basically tell them straight, be clear, and plain with them, if they are wasting your time and costing you money, tell them, let them know you can't continue to offer your service if they are going to do that.

Sometimes get people that say I did have a window cleaner but only turned up for a few months, but then realise why they dumped her, but it gives a bad rep to windys and I do not want a bad rep, I dont want people talking about me saying i turned up for a few months then dropped them, you know what I mean?
