Yep, I agree dodger. RC is right, the law doesn't say you can't climb your ladder, I was up mine today, but you have to be able to justify it with a risk assessment. That seems to be the insurance get out. Where could you justify using a ladder to access a window that your wfp won't reach? On a garage roof maybe. You could justify this on an assessment due to short duration of work and low risk etc. But all day everyday on ladders where wfp can be used? It doesn't wash with the health & safety exec anymore.

I don't think I'll bother with insurance next year, seriously whats the point in it if they won't pay out anyway.

Hey slate me for that but do you not wonder why some people don't bother.
Think ill join you on that one mate. I ain't paying out money knowing there try every trick in the book to get out of paying. Waste of time.

But if things was done right they will pay out so not a waste of money, could u afford a £50,000.00 pay out or more?

It's not just public liability, every insurance that you take out is the same. They will always try to get out, but if you stay within the rules, they will pay out. Just because they try to get out does not absolve us from paying. You would be in more trouble with the police having no car insurance, than being insured and having your company try to wriggle out from paying.

Pay the insurance, stay within the law, if an accident does happen, which by their definition, they will, you will be covered by your insurance and get the pay out. If you pay the insurance, don't stay within the law and then have an accident, why should your insurance lay out because it is your own fault?

Don't forget some costs go up to and beyond £1,000,000.00

That American window cleaner that lost his arms, just his medical bill was over $500,000.00
I was kidding I could not afford that & I see yer point RC

By the way chaps it is not a legal requirement to have public liability /emoticons/biggrin.png

And I was just ranting, I also see the point but makes ya blood boil.
yes it does, one minute they say you are insured but when it comes to paying out they try and use anything to get out of paying out!

Well I for one agree totally.

exactly what iv been saying the whole time, any licensing turns into revenue generating, it wouldnt stop dodgy cleaners as they dont care now about signing on and comitting fraud, 95% of custies will never ask to see it so they will just carry on, if anything it just means there overheads would be even lower than ours so they would be able to undercut even more!

I don't want to get into the politics of this but it will work if you have strong representation in the Industry. They will never get it 100% correct but if you give them a realistic target to hit they should hit it.

The only problem is you will NEVER please everyone.
