ive decided on a citroen berlingo as my starting van for the bussiness (wfp)

i was just wondering if anyone else has got one or had one and if they could upload some pics of set up or generaly give advice on their reliability and what kinda mileage you get out of them etc..

cheers guys!

Have a berlingo. 12 yrs old. 110000 miles thus forth, if the rest of it holds out I'd expect the engine to last between 150000 and 250000, I'm not what you'd call a van carer, so can put servicing and things off, but don't thrash it either, never pass 60. No pics, but would get another. Usually costs no more than 100 notes a year to mot.

nice, they sound very reliable. so if i buy one at 100,000 should easily get a couple of years out of it.

looks good! what litre tank you got in there?
got 2 tanks, one 250lt and one 125lt,

mines over the 160,000 and still going, only thing it has is a small oil leak, but for its age thats nothing! lol

wow thats really good! oil leak not so bad /emoticons/smile.png especially after that distance like you say.

im looking to start of with a 250 litre tank so this has made my day!

thank you /emoticons/smile.png

two more questions.. how much does it cost to fill your tank? and how many miles would that cover?

appreciate all your help /emoticons/smile.png

its a 1.9d its costs around £50 to fill it up, the milage is a strange one really, sometimes its good and other times is bad, one time it took £30 to drive just over 105 miles to my parents house with a full tank of water, then driving home empty it cost around £20.

im not buying till the new year im afraid mate, thanks though /emoticons/smile.png

Best to look for an 800LX preferably with a slide sliding door. My preferance is the 2.0 hdi but a 1.6 hdi is ok but must have a good main dealer service history. (Best 1.6 hdi is the 90hp engine.) Correct servicing on the latter engine is crutial using the correct recommended oil - the one oil fits all that most garages decant from a 44 gallon drum isn't good enough. The oil must be drained from the sump plug on a level, done when hot and left to drain for around 1/2 an hour at least. The engine oil mustn't be 'drained' by sucking it up through the dipstick pipe as is used by some garages. Oil filter must always be replaced.

The 800 lx will give you enough payload to carry 500 litres of water. My son in law sometimes uses a full 500 litres on a good summer's day on his own, although its usually around 400 liters.

Then you should look for a second hand Berlingo/Partner bulkhead. This was the original factory fitted unit as is much better than the tin can bulkheads on offer as local manufacture.

This one looks tatty but a cleanup and respray will be fine. This comes in 2 pieces, a lower full steel and an upper steel mesh bulkhead. Make sure they supply the side mounting brackets. You will have to cut a section of the steel mesh bulkhead out at the top in the centre to feed your poles through. Protect the poles with a lining made of 1/2" water hose slit and 'folded' over the wire to stop rubbing. You can hold the pipes together with a couple of pop rivets and washers. With a 500 litre tank there is enough room for a hose reel on one side and some fold up ladders on the other side between the wheel arches.

This is the 52 plate 2.0 hdi Peugeot Partner 800lx of my sons with a 500 litre tank. I put this together about 5 years ago and its still the same apart from the Unger Teleplus pole has been replaced with a Gardiner SL X25 and the shuflo pump strainer has been replaced with a butterfly nut type and the filter bowl in now underneath the filter not above as it is in the photos. The leisure battery was replaced at four years of age and is now a Numax. The two pieces of gutter next to the battery is where the split charge relay is situated. We also have a change over switch so he can power his pump with either the leisure battery or his van's battery, but he has never had to use it.

I cut the steel bulkhead and screwed some plastic guttering to the left wheel arch so he can slide his pole down it and into the passenger cabin between the seat and the passenger door.
