Which Reverse Osmosis?

Hi all, fairly new to this site but its helped already!

Question I'm asking is, what is the best reverse osmosis to buy? I've looked at loads and loads and can't decide. I almost went for the new merlin 720gpd but then wasn't sure. What systems are you using and find work well.

Thanks in advance.

Toby

Will you need 720 gallons per day? it depends on your need.

protip : you will not need 720 gpd...

Before anyone can answer they need to know what your tds is, how much water you use, how you will process it, if you are on a water meter, what storage and access facilites you have and what future growth plans do you have.

(Merlins produce good amount of water, but aren't very efficient. They produce at an efficiency of around 90%. Most other r/o's produce water at an efficiency of 98 - 99%. This means your resin costs will be higher polishing the excess off with a Merlin. They also produce a higher ratio of pure to waste - bad news if you are on a water meter. They are cheap to buy, but will prove to be more expensive in the long run IMHO.)

I've got a lot of customers that have started using me because their window cleaner started wfp so I don't want to change all customers over so I won't need loads of water. Maybe 100-150litres a day. I am on a water meter. I live in a flat so purifying and storing the water is a problem but I do have an outside space. I think in time I will need more water but not a massive amount. I don't need the 720gpd but I thought the quicker I produced pure water the less time the tap would be on.

Hope this helps in your replys, thanks!

sounds to me that you would be better off using a di or twin di if that is all the water you need and your storing problems

Is that not expensive doing it that way? How long does the resin last? Thanks
What is you ppm reading ? i would saythat this is normally the most important thing to ask but because you use so little water and no storage i think it will be your best choice give me 10 minutes as i got to pop in bath lol as i have another video which will explain it a bit easier for you

It is expensive.. I have used this method of cleaning for the past 3 years... I'm no changing to a 4040 h4 RO system cost around £500 for the complete set up, but you get more pure water at a quicker speed...

Thanks for all your replies guys been really helpful.

My tds reading changes from around 250ppm-300ppm so very high. Would your method still work mark?

Did you get say in the video that they're 27litre di's? Where do you buy them from? And where do you get your resin from? And how long does it last? (Sorry if you said some of it in your video)

Thanks again

Yours is not far of mine, so if you used 100lts a day 5 days a week using a twin di it will cost you approx £80 for 3 months but even if it only last 2 months that would still only cost you £2 day at worst which would take you about 10 minutes to fill up

great accurate advice mark- much appretiated. As I also have no storage space can I put a tank/twin DI in van?
