What Gear Have You Got

Would have to disagree on that one....Why would anyone want such a low spec pressure washer like that as would struggle like mad on tougher jobs.

I would use minimum 5hp for driveway cleaning, that can run a 2000psi type pump which would do a decent job!!

same here i had a washer with similar spec and it struggled with stubborn dirt ,theres a big difference with the higher spec ,it will be twice as fast and it will result in a deeper clean, so if your budget will allow get minium of 15lpm 3600psi

just out of interest how do you lads price up say a driveway?do you have square yard rate ect or charge by the hour?

i just think how many hours it will take.

dont forget to allow for petrol especially if your gonna hire a washer as there thirsty fcukers, i charge by the hour

Can do it either way allowing for travel, fuel for the pressure washer and time too resand on another day including cost for sand.

I split the cost for both parts of the job if sanding is required as at least that way get paid for the first part of the job as can be delays when blocks are dry enough to call back to resand.

I price mine at £35/hour , i do agree that for a good job you need a high spec machine , i ihave seen lads using 5hp washers they just take twice as long as my 13hp ones /emoticons/biggrin.png

Yep I've even seen an old boy sat on a chair pressure washing a block paved driveway as was taking so long

can you guys take a butchers at genpower website for pressure washers, prices seem realistic, good waranty, loncin washers good psi and lpm, looking at the EPW3200, AND THE EPW400 4000psi, 14hp, 18lpm, id be gratefull for your advice, they seem cheaper on there own site http://www.genpoweruk.co.uk/Evopower_EPW3200_Petrol_High_Pressure_Washer_Loncin_Power-_7hp_3000psi.html, or if you spot one to get, im getting a headache looking, i need to get one while i have some cash spare, why do you guys say FSC are no good on block paved driveways, i thought they were a must for big drives, whirlaway, mosaic, etc.

the epw 4000 18lpm 14 hp is cheap and a great spec for fast cleaning ,but it dosent say what pump is supplied , look out for interpump or more expensive is the cat or lombardini , these were recommended to me as reliable, also these companies will usually offer optional extras like a gearbox driven washer and an outer bypass system , if you ring them they will explain the advantages of the extras ,basically they make the machine work longer hours and last longer, overall ,also ask for double wire high pressure hose as the single wire is usually **** and dosent last ,and also stainless steel quick release couplings and a decent lance even if you have to pay a few quid more is worth it . i also noticed that they have a technical forum on their site which is very handy if you get into difficulty.i changed my washer last may and bought of jetmac systems only because the shipping was way cheaper as im in ireland if your in the uk i think you wont beat them for price

i just looked at the pic and that looks like a 2 piece lance ,be warned i had one and its lying in the shed after one job , they are useless and keep twisting and come apart , id recommend a ordinary 1 piece lance

another observation swas i dont see a power nozzle in the pic so try get them to through one in as a freebie as there a must have for powerwashing thats all now im heading out good luck anyway

Ask what pump is fitted , i have interpump and Cat, quality and have never let me down, also spares are easy to get should you need em, i have a 21" whirlaway but it doesnt clean lockblock to my satisfaction, dont use it on lockblock anymore, get a turbo nozzle and as above get 2 wire hose i have a 30 meter and 20 meter, good advise on the split lance an aw , mine lasted about 6 months , they never break at a good time lol, just use single lances now, return to tank bypass is essential imo as if you clean roofs etc it keeps your pump cool while you off the trigger, i only use Honda 13hp engines so aint got any experience of them ones your looking at but can recommend Terry at jetmac systems ( ebay) good guy and ive had stuff off him with no problems
