Im thinking about buying a gutter vacuum for cleaning gutters.Do these things actually work in the real world? they seem to work well when watching people using them on youtube.

yer i find mine works ok can be a mess about when cleaning best to book a few jobs in on the same day to make it worth it but they save me a lot of time there great for awkward bits like above conservatories or were its awkward to get a ladder in safely

Cheers jimbob, im based in Leeds I know prices vary all over the country but what do you charge for an average three bed semi.

just to vacuum out the gutter around £35 give or take a fiver takes around an hour in all then ill add another £20ish if they want the exterior of them and the fascias cleaning down add extra for conservatories or bay windows with the canopys over them and garages too.

Im pretty new to gutter vac scene, I wouldnt charge less that 80 and thats probably the lowest Id go and thats at a push. ITs not just the cleaning the gutters you need to worry about. Set up time, Pack up time, cleaning all the poles and machine. Not to mention the awkwardness and mucking about.

For normal houses using a ladder I charge 30-40. In my village Ill go down to 25, competition and all that

its pretty easy once you get the hang of it the cleaning down does take about 40 mins but like I said I book a full days work in with mine and clean it once at the end of the day otherwise its not worth the hassle ive got a generator in the back of my van I use to power mine it takes less than 5 mins for me to set everything up and the same to pack away if its a bit of a walk to a customers house I use there electric save carting a genny about after you've used them a few times you get to know which jobs would be better to use a gutter vac or just off ladders sometimes youll get one were the roof tile overhang the gutters quite a lot for this ive made a narrow crevice tool with a angle cut on the end then I just go up the ladders with just the hose (no poles) and vac it out that way
