Hi im new to the wfp industry i started in April this year and things are going really well but i feela bit cheeky cleaning the glass every 4 weeks cos when i get there its never mucky and im just wiping clean glass.

What frequencies is everybody else doing, IE 4,6,8 weeklys.

the other thing is i can clean about 28 houses a day in a 8 hour shift is this about right.

i started off 4-8, but want to change everything to 6 weeks, all work this year will be on a 6 week cycle, as i feel this is the best frequemcy v dirty windows, wont be doing any not on the 6 week cycle, except 1 care home every other month,

should be able to do that in 6, but after 5 hours i am knackered

That’s good; you’re maintaining the windows well. Don’t worry, the customers will be or should be very happy that you can keep them so clean throughout the entire year by only servicing them 13 times per year.

I offer 4, 6 & 8 weeks as standard, how many you clean per day has be average out over the year, 28 houses every day is high compared to me, same goes for the number per hour. More windows on a building can mean more time or even less time, cleaning time will vary if the building is big, tall, awkward or has access issues, obstacles etc.

So unless you do only houses that are all the same design made by the same builder all of them having the same type of access, no extras like conservatories, extension or even new and different windows, every job will likely differ in some way. Those differences can be accounted for with your prices.

28 in one day, thats a lot. I do about 10- 13 standard 3 bed houses in 6 hours, averaging £100 plus a day.

I also work on a 6-8-12 weeks rota, Mostly being 6 weeks, and only a couple at 12 weeks,

Works out to be 3.5 houses as hour.

So very easy todo.

One guy on his own should be doing £250 on a good round.

Must be on the same road, if not 20 min of that can be traveling time, I could do 28 in a day if all on one road. lol

Yes thats what i can do about 250 per day, but when i tell some window cleaners they think im bullshitting because alot of people i speak to can only do about 150 max.

£150 lol that's traditional money.

Don't get me wrong tho, it's takes time to build a decent round.

It’s not fair to knock trad cleaners money, I know a few trad cleaners who do in excess of £45,000 a year and don’t work more then a 4 day week, very good window cleaners and with that pay they obviously know how to run a small business.

The only mistake I find with these window cleaners is that they haven’t made the change to wfp, but that’s just my opinion.

Richard

Yeah I have a couple of traditional friends who earn more than me per day.

Over the year hmmm doubtful. I see many window cleaners who are trad stopped at the slightest bit of rain.

The £150 comment was in reference to wfp only doing £150 max. £150 wfp is not very good at all. Again depends on the round and worker.

Sound like you have a very good work ethic Damo, and I do agree with you should be earning more when using a wfp system.

My wfp system got frozen before Christmas. I got to the first job did the front upstairs windows then the system froze, I had to ask the owner to boil kettle to unstuck the hose connectors from the van, packed up and called it a day and went home. I often think trad cleaners are hardier; there was a time when I would have carried on and cleaned with the ladders.

Richard

I think in the 3years of wfp. I have lost 3 days due to being to cold and water freezing.

I still think trad leaves a better finish, anybody who says different is lying. I clean my own windows i can see tiny bits that are left behind on the glass.

Not turning this into a wfp/trad thread.

But a lot of what you earn is down to your mental attitude. I always used to turn up at my worst road. All under priced. Lucky if it hit £15 an hour. Now I get to the road. Smash it out and leave lol. I need to put then up but even if i put them up £3 each. They would still be underpriced. GRRR.

Clean window is a clean window, trad or wfp; fair enough nothing like being up close to the glass an checking then correcting any blemishes, but as you have pointed out that kind of perfect service cost and it wont matter if you are wfp or trad, it cost.

Couldn’t agree with you more about attitude, operating a small window cleaning business requires knowledge. You’re smart enough to recognise you have work that needs sorting out compared to the rest of your round. Wait until it’s suitable for you, and put them up to a fair price for you and the customers.

Richard

The business has cruised for 10 years.

Made a business plan over Christmas and hopefully can stick to it. A proper plan. Not just "earn more money"

I am investing in modernisation first. Still spending hours printing and trimming slips ffs lol.

Going to be a fun year and hard work.

£150 a day is good wage for a lot of areas, because to be honest it down cost that much to run a wfp business,

one of the things i noticed about what people earn a day, you will have some say i earn £300 a day but they are doing 9 hours a day, i do 4-5 and average 120-150 a day, dont rush, start after i take kids to school, and am own before they finish

£150 a day is a brilliant wage I would say.

Most by friends earn £1000/£1300 after tax a

Month.

If you are working 7/8 hours and doing £150 wfp that ain't great at all.
