Hi,

Im just about to get my wfp system but I suffer with a bad back. I sometimes have to go and get it manipulated by a physio. I told my physio that I was starting window cleaning and he said it was not the job for me. Too sore on the back & neck.

Anybody else suffer back trouble & able to clean windows? Thanks for any advice.

I only do tops wfp and after a full day you can feel it on your shoulders and lower back but you get used to it .

I have noticed that since using the wfp my shoulders seem to be more defined .

Ask him to prescribe back excercises for you, basically lying down on the floor riding a bike. Done properly the excercise will alleviate any back problems. Also look into the Alexandra technique, its very similar. After a couple of weeks wfp your neck may feel like its going to drop off but after 6 months you rebuild the muscles required.

Its a whole lot better than falling off a ladder.

Ive done various other jobs over the years, although im new to WFP i can safely say its easier on the back than anything ive done before, ( so far anyway) Make sure you have a light pole and you should be fine, ive two poles a Brodex Hydra and a Gardiner clx , i can feel a big difference between the two , so its Gardiner pole all the way for me /emoticons/biggrin.png

i have a bad back, 3 vertabrates are crushed between 50-70%, look like pizza slices now.. generally wake up everyday with a sore back, take tablets everyday.. been using wfp for a good few months now, and back dosent cause me much grief, can hurt doing some hard to reach windows above cons and extensions etc, but compared to ladders i find it much easier.. if anything hurts its the arms!!!

but one thing i would recommend is a carbon fibre pole, makes things so much easier..

I can manage a full week wfp and i fell off a roof in 2007. I always have had a bad back......

My advice is buy a book called "TREAT YOUR OWN BACK" I used to have physio twice a month, havent had it for 6 months!

Good good. The exercises are simple enough. But it gives you emergency exercises.

When I used to get my bad days I Could have been sore for 3/4 days. If the pain is coming I

Do em. Then I am only sore for that day

As a female, it absolutely kills me. My right elbow throbs, im assuming i have tennis elbow coming.

My neck and shoulders kill to, that it even hurts to look left. Just had 8 days off over xmas, hopeing this would cure it, but no such luck.

Good point, i eat lots of chocies and dont put on weight. lol.

18 months.
Yeah you would have built up the wfp neck as call it lol.

If you are fit and healthy. Maybe look at how you clean (stance) distance from window. Weight of pole Etc etc. anything to make the job easier. Rinsing on the glass. Lots of things to change or look at /emoticons/smile.png

A lighter pole will pay dividends. Especially over conny lids. As has been said afore, most agro is neck and shoulders, but gets easier, though doesn't go altogether, in my exp

Yep. Nothing like standing with your nose on the downstairs window while cleaning the upstairs for a crook neck!

Steve if you want to come and have a play with my poles, composite and carbon fibre and get a feel for it let me know, my windows are stinking and you can get some practise!!

I have the slx18, before that, had the gardener. So both my poles have been light.....Your right about angles and having your nose to the downstairs window when cleaning the tops, Plus the strain when you are cleaning back windows over a conservatory etc.....

Will try and look at the way im working, but old habbits are hard to change.lol. Thanks for the advice tho.

Slx is a great pole, you can go one better and get the extreme pole. I love using the extremes. They are so light!!

a few simple questions

are you over weight

what back prob have you got

have you every gone to a osteopath over your back

Im far from overweight.lol. But i think i do need to go and see soneone about it. To be fair, i need 100 more customers then i can drop down my days i work, and pay someone else. Thats my aim. lol
