Try using less detergent, helped me in the early stages, if not i would recommend using ecover washing up liquid. If you are not already.

Late to the party, but welcome /emoticons/tongue.png

Ill try less soap maybe I'm a little heavy handed when it comes to the soap. I use original fairy the now but have heard good reviews on ecover. I always seem to leave a very thin layer of water at points during the stroke of my squeegee on the glass to, but when I had a shot of my mates 8" squeegee I never. My technique was no different and his rubber was the same brand as mine. Can't seem to work that out.

And thanks for the welcome.

I just used the last of my fairy today. So it's off to Tescos tonight to buy some ecover, I take it I only need a small about per bucket full?

with wfp i put a spoon full to 25L of water or i squirt to my brush and apply that way, never used it trad.

I used less fairy today than I normally do and achieved some nice results. Squeegee seemed to dry the window far better too. A window cleaner approached me today after seeing me working a few houses down from him. We got to chatting and he asked me if I use vinegar in my water as it eliminates streaking. Is this right enough?

Sorry for being full of questions. But I was always told if you want to learn speak to those that know.

Thanks

Some people swear by it others dont. I would try neat ecover first, then you can experiment.

Vinegar is for chips not windows /emoticons/wink.png

what bout newpaper did he offer that aswell, my nan said we used to use newspaper to clean shoes and windows with a dash of vinegar. vinegar is an acid aint it so wouldnt it in time damage the rubbers around the windows?? this reminds me of a time when a trad guy told my customer that wfp window cleaning isnt safe coz it damages rubbers lol

Haha he never offered newspaper but he did seem really old school. I would have thought vinegar was a strange thing to be putting on windows. As for the wfp I can't pass judgement on that cause I've never had and experience with it myself. I'll stick to the traditional stuff due to the lower start up costs.

Cleaners do you vinegar. Normal white tho /emoticons/wink.png It is acidic that's why cleaners use it.

Never seen the need myself !

stick with ya cover mate and practice practice practice. have you knocked doors for your customers or fliers?

I use vinegar and ecover, I find it makes the squeegee glide really well and leaves the windows streak free and really sparkling. Each to their own tho. I don't use lots, just a 'splash' in a bucket. Less is defo more with that stuff, same with detergent really. Definitely try ecover, you wont go back to fairy once you have /emoticons/smile.png

I just did a list of all the trad gear I use for another member in a different post, here's a link to it https://www.windowcleaningforums.co.uk/topic/6873-someone-help-me-i-need-a-trad-starter-kit/

That's awesome mate, I'll try wintec when I next order equipment as p&p with other companies seems to be a bit over the top. I'm looking forward to trying the pulex 8" brass squeegee I've ordered. It's been shipped this morning 1st class so hoping it comes tomorrow. I've read a lot of mixed reviews on pulex stuff thought. But it's a basic squeegee so should be........gulp.......I hope haha

Thanks for the link to the list has helped a lot

I've used all types of channel rubbers, I think as long as you buy reasonable quality you should be alright. I now only use Unger and Pulex, mainly on price. Buy off the internet, 36 or 42 inch is always good value.
