Gutter Clean By Hand

WCF

Help Support WCF:

another handy job smurf, im looking for a microlite standoff and dont want to pay the 200 euro that i was quoted from a supplier in ireland. my last one which i got of ebay for 60 quid was nicked some night this week , i thought it was safe because id a small chain and lock wrapped around it but the scum that took it must of had a bow snips , so il have to keep a look out on ebay

Was an easy job using a microlite standoff but was bitterly cold today.

I'm sorry to hear yours got nicked.

Do hope you find a replacement bargain soon /emoticons/wink.png

dont you get scared going up ladders. id love to not be scared, i got ladder limpets but still shake and cling on for dear life lol

il have to get one fast because i was so use to having the extra bit of safety that i dont want to be taking chances on gutter clearence .

I still have a pair of those ladder spurs too but don't have to use them now on my triple ladders as the ankalad stabalisers are permantly fixed to the ladder that also fold in for transporting about.

Only time I might use those ladder spurs now is on one of my smaller ladders, conservatory ladder or just using the top section of my triple.

Tip: Don't try using those ladder spurs on a ladder to access a flat roof then lift the ladder up. I did on one job when I first got them as wanted to use the same ladder to reach some guttering above a flat roof. After I finish and tried to put the ladder back onto the ground the bloody things slipped so could not set the position of the ladder properly. In the end after bring the ladder back up I had to take them off. /emoticons/biggrin.png

ive got these' date=' cheap aswell for just 20 quid. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200849290163

your ladder things look great. i bet you can run up those ladders lol. where do i get them from???

i can go up ladders but soon as my feet get level with the downstairs sills im shaking and clinging on for life. i dont ever look down. i turned down so much gutter cleaning in the past year due to fear of heights. another reason i wfp aswell.

Put it this way it use to bother me using an unsecured free standing ladder at gutter height as never felt that safe.

Now using a microlite standoff and an ankalad takes the worry out of the job for me to gain easy access to clear guttering.

As long as I still concentrate what I'm doing (3 points of contact and all that) it is much safer for me now. /emoticons/wink.png

looking at the state of the slates on that house im not suprised they said no , it will cost them in the long run

Nice job Steve.

I do get no thanks too sometimes even after they have see the pics. Go figure

Lovely ladder set up Smurf, I've been looking at the ankalad myself. I also use a standard ladder standoff at the moment, what's the benefits of using the microlite would you say?

looks like a nightmare job, i couldnt do gutters by ladders i get terrified of going over the down stairs windows. if i wasnt scared id make a killing in gutter cleaning, im always being asked about it.

I know what you mean JDMW.

I am pretty good on ladders (bit cocky sometimes)

but when you go higher on the ladders where your on one rung(rather then double rung if that makes sense) gets really scary..

I must admit I struggled like hell before using a microlite as is the only class 1 stand-off that can rest on pitched and flat roofs. I've found normal stand-offs are rubbish as always felt insecure when purched on a norrow gap on fascias under guttering when needing to set the ladder above windows etc.

So the main benefits for me using a microlite is that it gives me enough height to clear out guttering easily above windows & deep soffits. The microlite being on the roof is a lot more secure to work from as the ladder is above the roofline so you also have a better hand hold and view. Also I've found it much better for pole work too.

Tip: if you do not like heights don't look down /emoticons/biggrin.png
