Isopropyl Alcohol

WCF

Help Support WCF:

What do you want it for?

I would not bother adding it to the water as I've heard from others that you need to put a lot into a wfp tank to help stop the water freezing so can work out very expensive.

Maybe best person to ask is njones as I’m sure he has tried using it.

Do a search on google as loads of suppliers come up /emoticons/wink.png

Interesting….How much is a drop and what size barrel are we talking about?

Ebay I get it from. I usually put a drop in each barrel and that dose the trick.

Well I was working in -4 and was adding a few drops to a

25l barrel.

If there is wind forget it.

I was adding about 20ML at a gues.

It deffo stopped jets from

Freezing and jet pipes.

They freeze first usually.

isopropanol freezes at -84,to stop water freezing at say -10 you'd need around about a 15% plus ratio mix,it would work out so expensive to run(i get it fairly cheap but at those ratios its well expensive to run your stystem on it),if you do get some, check the tds first it should be bang on zero-if it isnt its watered down-a common trick to make it go further, buyer beware on that one.

i take it your enquiring about ipa to stop water freezing during the day in use?if so buy one of those water heaters-will keep you working

there is a point though when you have to accept defeat and go home/have a cuppa-tommorrow is another day

should have read the posts first-duuurrrr,anything down to -5 just bang plain old screen wash in the butts(has ipa and other stuff in it-although check the tds after as the screenwash is diluted with tap water to make it all up,)the colour is only a dye to make it appeal to you-darker more concentrated etc.

how do i know this?local solvent company i use gives me all the info

I usually go threw about 400l water a day so am guessing about 300-350 ml
I dont know how this stuff works mate, as i added half a litre to a 350 tank, and had problems all day. Switched to trolley, then added to drums and it was fine.

My honest advice is avoid using it, it is quite dangerous, highly explosive as well.

for 400l you'd need about 60litres plus to keep it working at -10,see why its expensive to use now!in a trolly water butt you can just add a good glug and it should be ok(25litres dilution rate would be about 500ml-half litre)but a sub zero temps we all just "bang a bit in"so it works.it can be calculated at a given temperature but these change during the day,so makes it all pointless really,it is explosive because its an alchohol, the min its added to water its fine-best results are found if mixed and left overnight(too long a post to explain why)try half a cup in water butts the night before for best results /emoticons/wink.png/emoticons/wink.png shake well too,

yeah but i wouldnt work in -10 LMAO.

I have noticed for my setup -4 is the cut off. After that jets freeze, then pole hose then lastly fittings on trolley.

So i added a bit to a 25L drum to keep the nip off. It worked all day, as soon as i forgot the glug it would freeze up.

i wouldn't work in -10 anymore either damo, neither -4,bit older and wiser now i guess, karlosdaze did the dilution rate a few years ago and posted it on another forum,on a cold one i pop a bit into the backpack for ease,i think because its a small amount of water its easier to gauge how much to dose by trial and experience whereas with a tank its a "one-shot"and hope it works

I did notice on leaded WOW the shine was epic.

Yeah i know what ya saying but -4 feels the same as -3 -2 -1 0 lol!

sshhhhh a couple more ingredients to it and it gets awesome, ipa lowers the surface tension of water and makes it easier to use on the glass-the "contact point"of the glass i'm still working on.yeh cold is cold all depends how warm you feel i guess as to how cold it really is
