  3. I don’t know about the majority. I’ve been at this a long time and know a lot of fellow windies in my area and none of them do. I have a handful that I have to text for access but that’s about it. I couldn’t imagine having to text everyone on my round even if it only takes a minute or two.

    Pole Hose..........

Totally agree we use very hot water and it’s used 8 hours a day dragging it around sharp pebble dashed walls I replace it every 3-4 years no issues at all with it , I think maybe some people put a twist in it when reeling it in and this is why they get kinks , we have it on 15 hose reels some hot and some cold water and never experience kinking or any other issues

    Pole Hose..........

Been using Gardiners reinforced for the past 3 years. Bought a 30m roll and still not used it all. Brilliant stuff

    Pole Hose..........

Gardiners green pu hose I brought as an upgrade. All it does is coil up and tangle. Avoid this if you have a short temper like myself

    How long would 250 litres

Found a two year old barrell in the basement with a bit of pure in the bottom and no cap. The tds was 002. Dont worry about it.

    Dashcam footage

If you don’t have time to watch all the video, skip in to 2:40 then watch the next two clips. Absolutely shocking drivers out there! Scary. I love watching these videos.
  9. If you don't want to simply text your customers the evening before (like the majority of us do), then I'd suggest writing "Your windows will be next cleaned w/c (week commencing) "insert date here". This gives you the whole week to clean them when you can.

    How long would 250 litres

Once you've purified the water, it will stay pure. You can leave it in a barrel fairly indefinitely and it will be fine to use on windows (not for drinking) as the minerals that leave water marks that have been filtered out cannot spontaneously appear in a sealed barrel. For long term storage though, keep it out of the sun as algae can start to grow. For very long storage, things like micro plastics shedding into the water (caused by UV light) and bacteria in stagnant water could theoretically be a problem.
  11. Hi I'm going from traditional to wfp and was wondering if I had purified the water say today Wednesday and didn't use it... How long would it last to be good to use or does it stay the same or go off? Sorry if its a silly question just want as much info as possible before I switch as don't want to lose any clients. Thanks for your time
  12. I've got a mate who is anti WFP and at the same time proudly announces that he's a window cleaner not a frame cleaner when his customers ask him to clean the frames. He's lost more than one customer to WFP.

@Tango i'm going to be sounding harsh again but I can't really say this any other way. Your choices are quite simple. 1: Tell current supplier no, you want the same deal he lured you in on or you will go else where. 2: Find a pile of 25 litre barrels (car washes, ebay, free from my garden) and pay 'man with van' on Facebook £25 to drive you to nearest place to fill them all up affordably. 3: Sell a pile of old stuff you have laying about and get a cheap RO/DI to get started 4: Get a start up loan (Company like Transit) practically no interest to pay. 5: Tell old employer that you are jacking it in and put yourself in a position where failure is not an option and get on with it. I am sorry but we are but mortal window cleaners we can't fix every hurdle you want to throw our way mate. Sooner or later you got to bite the bullet and make the choice. Starting on the glass is cheap.... not free but there is some expense. You could always go roof rack and ladder until you have saved enough cash to get a pro system and more importantly have enough customers to warrant it.

Tap water does not void the warranty on a backpack! Chemicals void the warranty. Tap water will also NOT contaminate the backpack. You just need to rinse out with pure before you go proper WFP.

    It’s it morale or right

You can sometimes also lift the gate a bit on its hinges so the locking lever clears the hook on the gate post on some DIY purchased metal gates. We were once challenged by one customer and when we showed him he was in disbelief about how secure (or insecure) his back gate was. He never did replace the gate though and we used that method of entry for years afterward. The funny thing was that his wife, if she was home, always ran to the back gate to unlock it for us. We always thanked her but never said anything to her and he probably didn't either. 😀
  16. Now theres a point. they're belgium. Ive got a taste for carling lately, not as strong, but then stella have dropped from 5.2 % to 5 % and now 4.8! Daft, just makes us drink more cans. Get a good deal on the carling, 2 packs of 18 for £20 and made in England so should be fine. Mind you, I see that they brew some stella over here too. 🍺

    worth stockpiling anything?

Totally agree. I’m a bit on the OCD side, so tend to carry about three of everything on my van (except for the water tank 😆)
  19. I think you may be making a rod for your own back with that one. I always arrange the frequency when I give the initial quote and let them know that sometimes I may be a few days out depending on weather, personal time off etc so they know exactly when I should be due from the date of the last clean.

    worth stockpiling anything?

Nope, but always good to have spares so you can swap or fix something on the spot at work, I helped out someone yesterday who had no spares but was a little surprised when I got a toolbox out of the van with all I needed.

    Water dried up..

I joined Spotless about 3 years ago as they were opening a site in Cambridge "soon". Still waiting so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting
  22. Hose connectors & hose... I use these nylon air hose connectors - same as Gardiner fit to the goosenecks I stocked up with a few of those from ebay the other day as my tubeless setup relies on them and no doubt they won't have very long lifespans. I only use the straight connectors - none of the other fancy ones you see above but thought i'd post the picture anyway.

Trouble with tap water is it would then contaminate the backpack... and also invalidate the warranty for it. Last thing i need is that going bang and further crucifying me! Spotless are saying they're opening here soon... but they're refusing to give a date despite the fact i've signed up and apparently other windys in the area are wanting it here too.

    Water dried up..

That's a cracking idea, customer doesn't need to know and won't know that you're not supposed to blade it, yeah so it might take longer but hey it'll work out a lot cheaper till you get on your feet.
  26. Fairly certain that guy is on here
  27. I personally would scrap having next clean dates on, why don’t you just get contact number and send a text night before , thats how I do it , once am sorted and settled for the night , I’ll send a mass text message
  28. R wcs

    Water dried up..

@Tango Use tap water and blade the window afterwards 🤓
