  2. I actually know of someone in my area who only trads, and he has admitted to me how he puts wfp down to his customers. I had to explain to him how he's mistaken, but this will happen - misinformation its called. hes retiring soon, and then all his customers will have to be re-educated, or do without a cleaner.

    Water dried up..

getting to like mad max days, men killing for pure water. Haha, going out equipped for the crime 'Mister, hand over that water.... all of it.... or i shoot ☠️
  4. If customers are intrested or understand it then just explain how it works if not just do them wfp and don’t explain as long as they have clean windows most won’t care how it’s done
  5. lol, sell em to RWCleaning above. personally Ive gotta get meself a bulk load of forkandles
  6. Also buddy, a lot of customers will be out and not even know its wfp. We've all had that, where they're in for once and are like 'Aren't you gonna dry it off?' erm, no, its how ive been doing it these past couple of years. 'Oh' It slowly sinks in everywhere that its the better way, I do say my bit to the customer when required to help push this knowledge. better finish/repels dirt/flies etc.

You could go one better, even if the van is locked @Gasket can pick the lock for you and then help yourself 😂😂
  9. I'm with Dazmond on this one. Three of the four I lost when I switched over 12 years ago came back to me five years later when the traditional window cleaner they replaced me with fell off his ladder, broke his wrist and decided to retire from window cleaning. The fourth one replaced me with another windy and a couple of years in he made the switch to WFP and now she's replaced him. However, she is fast running out of traditional window cleaners to choose from round here. Most now seem to prefer WFP as they get their frames cleaned each time as well instead of just windows and ledges. Some of my current customers came to me directly because they had seen the results of WFP on their neighbours windows. So I wouldn't worry about it too much. I still have one who occasionally says she prefers the old way as she calls it. But I have the feeling she just says it to try to wind me up as she is a bit of a cantankerous character

  11. yeh you'd hope so. You know what its like tho, they blame anything and everything on brexit. Its the ready made guilty/blame all. Im even thinking of using it myself as an excuse lol.

    worth stockpiling anything?

I would have thought that most of the stuff we buy comes in from China or Taiwan so what the hell a brexit deal has to do with anything is baffling to me

Most window cleaners work with their back doors unlocked, can’t you get a suction nozzle & pump on eBay and siphon out from a few vans in your area while their out of sight round the back of a house? Bit here or there won’t go noticed. If you lived near me @Tango I’d genuinely help & sell to you cheap payg. Hope something works out 👍

    worth stockpiling anything?

I invested in the o clamps a while ago, on a huge scale. If the o clamp market comes crashing down I’m laughing. Parents say “bricks & mortar.” No. O Clamps is the future👍
  15. I dont know, maybe someone on here might? They keep on about companies stocking up on stuff because of potential problems/increases of price etc over brexit. maybe some of the stuff we use is affected? Maybe not. I mean if it was possible your resin or filters/brushes etc could go up 30% then buy them now instead of late? Just a thought.

I take it there’s no spotless water stations near you, sorry to hear about you having a tough time, I think buying a DI / RO sounds the best option, I hope you’re pain eases up mate, best of luck.
  17. Trying to think of a witty answer but all sound dodgy, hmm. rack that brain.

bog boy back packs any good ?

    How would you know? 🤔😘
  19. If you go on YouTube and do a search for 'water fed pole window cleaning' there's a load of stuff on there. But you can't beat practice. It all felt awkward to me at first but you soon develop a 'method.' And once you settle in you'll also find that your method will likely evolve.
  20. Lol, the title, - bog boy back packs' sounds like something from a rent boy emporium.
  21. yeh mentioned trying similar before but didnt get round to it. Reckon it could work well. Meet the cleaner etc. If you had a little stall or what not, you could even have a laptop or whatever and look up their property and quote there and then. ( Not all, but a lot of properties are pictured online) Its a great idea and Im a lazy sod for not doing it, especially as Im only half way to my customer quota.

    TIps to maintain shutters

'vacuum your woes' ! Havent heard of that before. kind of like drinking your woes away? Lol, Anyway, used to work on roller shutters with my cousin for the hi-fi chain richer sounds. Drive all over england, maintenance service them. Basically just squirted grease on them and powered up and down. What a doddle, then got drunk in whatever city it was. 🍺

I totally understand and respect how hard your working mate and the reason your doing it for your family and wish you loads of luck. This job once you have built your business gives a great income and allows the flexibility for family time so is great. Just hoped you were aware of the physical demands of getting to that point cos if your doing enough to live that lifestyle it is hard work and if your in chronic pain your not getting paid if you have to take time off. Like I say best of luck loads of great advice on these forums

    WATER-FED TRADITIONAL CLEANING SYSTEM

I don't entirely agree with what you say. I have never lost a customer to wfp, in fact the only customers I have lost have either moved away or died, but I have picked up a lot from wfp! Wfp people won't go over a fence or through houses, or sometimes over garages (it's not dangerous if you take care). I've seen wfp operators leaving hoses over roads, along pavements in towns. I appreciate that it might be quicker, but all I hear from wfp is how much money they earn. With a ladder you are in front of that wind when you do the upstairs, but you can't see all the fly spots and insect pooh that I can, and certain times of the year it gets quite bad, especially in rural areas like where I live. One other thing that I have found is that wfp ops buy rounds up knowing that they are going to lose some, which in fact breaks up what could have been a compact round, and then those customers can't get a window cleaner (trad) because there won't be enough work to make it viable. I sold a round which was extremely compact in a village of nearly all 4 & 5 bed detached, which I had been doing for around 15 years. The two who took it on were wfp and said that they would do whichever the customer wanted. Within 18 months they had lost a third of that work. Change is not always for the better.
  25. It fits okay, I use moermans in my Unger boab. There is a video out there about how to modify the boab so the squeegees fit better. But I believe that needs to be done to both the unger and moerman version unless they changed it recently.

    TIps to maintain shutters

Installation of Shutters provide security to the place but it is compulsory to maintain your shutters. Maintenance of shutters is easy with these tips:- Get the right tools Wipe and shine Stain treatment Vacuum your woes Polish the hinges
  27. Mine not criticising you just saying that watching your video is painful , if that’s how you want to work then fine but times change you are choosing to use mop and blade that is a progression from the chamois , wfp is a progression from mop and blade , times change and the way we work has to alter as well , wfp cleans the frames to a very high standard mop and blade doesn’t , we regularly are picking up customers from traders as customers want the frames doing , I was trad for 10 year s going over to wfp was the best thing I ever did , earnings have gone through the roof , customers far happier, can do work that you couldn’t do before and so the list goes on , then there is the H&M’s aspect , if you go down the road cleaning with ladders and have an accident and the health and safety executive get involved look out they will throw the book at you , it’s not illegal to use ladders but the law is very clear if a safer alternative to ladders is available it MUST BE USED , no ambiguity there my friend , trad is fine for shop fronts but it is now a very outdated way of working , when I started wfp 18 years ago all the trad guys laughed there socks of at me saying it will never take off doesn’t do a good job etc , now whose laughing, there is only one guy left doing it and he’s loosing work hand over fist to wfp , wether you like it or not trad is a dying art most modern window cleaners cannot use a squeeze and I know lots that don’t Evan have one !!! How you want to work is up to you but think about your safety you are clearly an older cleaner you don’t want to have a fall and end up disabled when a better and far safer alternative is out there In that case you should still be using a chamois leather not mop and blade 😂😂😂
