  2. Thats very poor pricing only between £7-8 per job try and have a minimum charge say £10 , I think you are way to cheap and that’s why you are getting every job you quote , I know it’s hard when starting out but don’t go in to cheap or you will get to the point of not wanting to do the under priced work

Canvassing - how do you guys find it

Aye, the elderly. Now here's a very interesting group of people. I work for one doing up his house and garden but I missed doing his windows. If he goes into a care home then he will be made to sell his bungalow to pay for his care but if he spends all his money then the council will pay it. Many old folk are beginning to cotton on to this financial fact and are spending their money by doing up their homes. That's where I come in and do the work for them. One began with fitting new wetwall in his shower quadrant. Next was two new light fittings and realigning internal doors. Now I'm just finishing off new PVC FSG and 14 downlighters in the soffit which began with one above his door. Last but not least I'm replacing his concrete edging with wooden sleepers so he can paint them. I'm thinking what will be next but there is nothing left to do until he told me his daughter and brother have a few jobs for me. I'm fully booked till into May now, strange how things can grow arm and legs and the cash is always there.

Just make sure what ever you add to the hypo is designed to be added to it . We DONT put it in the hypo but spray the sorounding areas with clover chemicals bubble gum sent mask, after finishing rinsing down , it’s very strong stuff and a small amount goes a long way costs around £5 for 5 ltr I think . There are several sent mask products on the market that are made to add to hypo and they do work to a certain degree as @Clarkus84 said bonnymans sell some . As do softwash systems and others .

Canvassing - how do you guys find it

You have got to think logically sometimes. Imagine you are the streets window cleaner and someone comes knocking. Right away ones imagination starts to click into gear and wondering how much he is willing to charge. Folk might not be too happy if work begins to roll in and I'm not talking about the opposition. Best thing you can do is say nothing and carry on regardless. Theres other things you can add along the way, gutter clearing and PVC cleaning the add-ons are endless. I'm Mr Ben and today I was painting an outhouse. I have now to paint the outside of the whole bungalow at £150 a day which I'm happy about. Just plod along for a week and get 750 which is ok for an easy week. Eventually word gets around what you can do.
  17. It gets easier. its a good job to build your confidence up. dealing with people etc. In the end any dodgy remarks will be like water rolling off a ducks back because you wont need to care.
  18. We have several customers who have free electric during the day and get paid around £1200 per year from the feed in tariff we clean there panels every year for around £60-80 and they say that they notice up to 25% more output from the panels so they are more than happy to pay our charges , the interesting thing hear isa friend of mine runs a b&b and has 36 panels on his roof they were 6 years old and never been cleaned , I cleaned them for him and the output didn’t alter at all , so I think it depends what’s on the panel and if it’s the older type of panel where one cell covered in bird poo wipes out the charge from the whole panel , the latest panels only the covered or dirty part of the panel is removed from the production rate not the whole panel , hope this makes sense . We used to do a lot of arrays on farms and quite often the panels were covered in nearly a quarter of an inch of mud that had gone on the panels s as dust then got wet and turned to mud and practically wiped out production all together , we were cleaning them every 3 months ,at times there was 15 operatives cleaning and organising enough pure water and transporting it all over the county was a nightmare , sometimes we were working 100 miles away from home , I hated doing them and financially it was not worth doing , where we are there are tens of thousands of panels we were doing over 20 farms it started taking over my window cleaning business so I had to make a decision where I wanted the business to go in , so opted to give up the farm work as most of it was using cherry pickers , mewps, or fall arrest equipment for weeks on end and it was far harder work than cleaning windows , giving it up was the best decision I have ever made , we were recommended by the installers to clean there arrays as we started doing the ones on there offices and they liked what we did , if anyone down my way wants to do some I might still be able to put some work your way as they still email me wanting us to do stuff , but I won’t do it any more , far to much hassle and very little financial reward and then you get behind with your regular window work .

Solar panel cleaning - risk of shock?

They say they are made of self cleaning glass. There is only one thing that will give the maximum energy and that's automatic sun tracking. The panels can produce 120% more than they should in really hot days but it can burnout the inverter. That's what happened to my mate last year when we had the sunny spell. Cost him a grand and a few hundred in feed in tariff. I was lucky because they didn't have any 250w panels when I got mine and ended up with 245w and a couple of 2kw inverters. You would think the Middle East would be full of panels but I heard it was too hot for them.
  26. Probably because installers tell the customers that the rain will keep them clean. According to Solar Steve, they had to sell and convince customers operating solar farms that regular cleaning maintenance was cost effective.
