Drop in heater any good ?

Hi all just wanted some help with this one. I have a 800 litre static system in my garage and wondered if this would work as I don't really want to drill a hole for an immersion fitting and don't have any room in van for a heater e.g. diesel or gas so really just wanted to know if this would heat or warm water in static enough to make a difference to my day and more importantly to my hands ..thanks Nick

Yes it should do the job at 3kw , But the static tank will need to be insulated otherwise you will lose a lot of heat and depending how long your transfer hose is you will lose heat in transfer. The best option if possible is to fill your van tank the night before work and heat the water. 

I use a 1kw heater in my truck tank and water gets to about an estimated 15c but tank isn't insulated but is parked in the garage overnight.

3kw is exactly 13 amps. That's maximum load on plugs and sockets. Your extension cable out to your van needs to be totally uncoiled and every connection right.

Its recommended that when using a 3kw emersion heater you have a 16amp socket especially wired in to your distribution board.

We have a static set up inside a garage and it has never froze touch wood in 10 years

I use a 3kw heater quite regularly with 13 amp fuse and domestic socket and never had a trip in 10 years.

However I wouldn't want to leave it on all night so if you are going to leave it on all night  heed spruce's advice

It takes a very long cold snap to freeze such a large body of water. 

I also used the aquarium heaters in my old system.  2x250l tanks joined. 

Used to fill the tank in the evening and leave the heaters in there over night.  

Never froze once and water was luke warm in mornings. 

Thanks for reminding me to dig out heaters. 

There is a 2kw one which might be a better bet.

Yep, @Green Pro Clean Ltd has copied me again ?, I drop 2 aquarium heaters in my tank in the van to make the water Luke warm. It gives it a little boost before it goes through my gas heater during the day

Just to let you all know ordered one of the 2 kw heaters arrived I left it in the tank on a timer plug to come on at 12 last night by 5 this morning nice warm water. Was a joy this morning as I had forgot my gloves on a normal day won't need to transfer water to van till about 7 so should be around 30 to 40 at brush by then as was 23 this morning.

As a matter of interest Nick, is your tank insulated?
