wow, this thread is going well. no one is interested on an online business?

I thought about organise singles parties, you can charge up to £20 per head but you will need to build up your base just like a window cleaning round.
It also seems employment is a scary thought to lot of you!

I was online for years and that’s dead for newbies unless you have a bang on idea and funding

Just too hard now

And as for employment that’s because it is.
If I could rewind my company I would stick to getting as big with one man and then dabble into other bits.

is it really that bad? I remember when I was researching on costs in order to start online and was shocked at the prices business spend just on web creation and SEO. Thats not even mentioning cost of online advertising, stocks etc

Online business is a real challenge these days. Everything is so saturated online. I've been at it 10 years going on with various projects and only now are things starting to go in the right direction. Still I am in full time employment. Many might think I am loaded with the forum etc but it's not the case. It's hard graft earning a decent wage online as is anything else. Maybe in a year or two I might be able to ditch the employment but it all takes work and time. Just as any other business does.

I was buying and selling various products started amazing then become slightly more difficult I was only able to carry on in the later years because I hand built up a debt free high stock volume which allowed me to take a lot of risks that other sellers couldn’t or park money in more investment pieces.

id stay on the glass I'd get bored otherwise, @Gav do u miss a life on the glass?
YES

Sat in an office all day is killing me I swear. That said I do like to sit smug in my warm dry office in the winter. What I miss most is being my own boss! Although I kind of am with the forum and sites I long for the day I can tell them I'm not coming back.

I have worked for an Autism charity for the last 16 years. Various roles from care support worker in several homes  but the last 5 have been a manager of this autism resource and info centre supporting families and individuals etc.

Very similar to my background. Adults with learning disabilities and mainly those on the spectrum.

I have done some management in care and I take my hat off to you, cos I know how underfunded and under resourced it can be all too well.

Fairly similar to moderating this site then.

I and a friend of mine had a plan to go into the recycling business, we intended to recycle plastic back into oil ,which would be very environmentally friendly.

Plastic is mostly oil with a plasticiser added ,if you heat it in a chamber with the air excluded it will melt and return to oil which when cleaned up  can be used as fuel for a central heating oil burner.

We invested in equipment to process the plastic but unfortunately the spot price of oil took a tumble so it no longer became financially viable.

I think I will stick to window cleaning.

I think I'll become a gigalo when I retire from the windows
