Ladders can slide sideways and backwards and another interesting thing is they can kick up from ground when u push on the top.  Leverage action.  How do u stop the leverage? As in photo with flat roof.

When on gutters how u stop them sliding to the side as in other pix

I use a suction lifter/pad when you have glass under the ladder to stick it to. Strap it to a ladder rung and through the pad. I’d also invest in a microlight stand-off - that will keep you off the gutter and stop the top from slipping. Looking at the angle of your ladder I’d be saying you need to be more upright, the larger the angle of the ladder the more chance the ladder is to lever up. You have the ladder m8trix which will stop the ladder slipping at the bottom so your on the right track

use a ladder stay onto the facia or onto the slates but if on to the slates pad out the stay with foam pipe lagging it stops sideways movement (plus if the facia is white it will not leave marks on the facia

That's an interesting idea, got a link for one of those ladder suction pads?  That should stop it sliding left and right, shouldnt it?   WIll the microlight reduce it slipping left and right?

I've seen engineers use rope.  One piece tied at the top and one at the bottom.  Seems an excelletn idea as it will stop slidding back and sideways sliding.  Also, the bottom kicking up as well I would have thought.   Not sure how this could be done.   Finding something to tie the rope to is and issue.

Microlight will stop all top movement, coupled with the ladder m8trix it’s an unbeatable combo in my opinion.
I use the suction ‘pad’ when I have to get the ladder at a high angle. I brought the suction lifter from Screwfix, they do a two and three pad version

I use it through a rung on my ladder with a tie down strap

Interesting idea.  Never heard of it before.  I would have thought it could damage the glass, but I guess the sliding ladder won't have built up enough speed of movement to do that and anyhow there's no price on our safety.

If I can’t find something to tie to or a bit of grass to dig into I don’t go up, even your standard garage door T-handle will take a rope. I’d say 90% of the time I can secure the ladder how I want it, if not I just don’t risk it. Sometimes I’ve spent 15-20minutes at the start of a job finding a safe and secure access point. I’d rather do that in the first place than rush about and risk a ladder slipping, I’ve had too many close calls and scraped shins!!!

b&q have the ladder stand offs,   flat + corner stand offs,      i have the flat,      keep meaning to get a v corner one,    safer to use these than nothing,      provides greater width stability for ladders.     i use roofer ladders, wider and stronger ,  than the tinny alluminium ones.

Your ladder is to far out at the bottom I personally wouldn’t use holders I like the danger
