  1. First canvassing experience

Hi lads, Where do you look for recent house sales on line please ?????
  2. The "W" word

  5. Hi all, Read loads on here before starting out as a windy and more since.....great site and thanks to everyone who has contributed. I guess this may help those wishing to join us all "on the glass". I currently have a job working shifts and started out p/time as a windy on the 1st January. Got a small old Fiesta van and work using a Gardiners SLX25 & backpack and carry my pure water in barrels. Hopefully will be in a position next summer to get larger van and static tank and more equipment. Mainly do wfp but some trad. I work a 6 week round to fit in with my roster but have the odd fortnightly & 8 weekly. I have small & large houses, some flats , couple of shops and the odd commercial job. I seem to pick up lots of F/S/G cleans and also have a gutter vac. What advice can I give as a newbie myself ???? 1. Leave business cards everywhere. 2. Leaflets work 3. Say hello to everyone whilst you are cleaning.....they may walk up to you and want to become a customer one day 4. Get a website 5. Go and quote on every enquiry....DO not worry about trying to make a fortune, just get the job....more better paying work will come your way if they like you and your work !!!! 6. DON'T worry about getting a compact round in week one.....the gaps will close if you do 1,2, and 3 above. 7.And lastly, don't be treated as a fool and don't be scared to say NO to a job if it's dangerous, lots of aggro and if they think you are a fool !!! Happy cleaning and remember to look after your pole !!!!
  6. Windows abroad !!!

Had interesting chat with a friend last night who is originally from Belarus. He said in most European & Baltic state countries the windows open inwards (into the room) and NOT out like here in the UK. Thankfully ours do or all of us and this site would be redundant !!!
  7. Big thanks to Neil

I use to live next door to ex-SAS who won medal for his actions in the Iranian embassy siege in London mid 80's. NOT tall or powerfully built but had a presence about him...they are picked for their intelligence rather than brawn. He was a world class sniper as well and if you knew what he did in that siege you would know why !!!!
  8. guttercleaningsystems Carbon Poles and tools ok?

I have bought and used the GCS 1800 25ft carbon poles kit. Its the dogs danglies....only thing I dont rate is the mirror....to small.
  9. Gutter vac

Hi all, New to job of just 6 weeks. Going ok I guess, slow January but February getting going now. Just bought 1800w carbon fibre poles gutter vac from Gutter cleaning systems....smashing machine, did a practice on my daughters house this morning ready for first paid clearance tomorrow. Poles very light and strong and glad I didn't go for aluminum. Only thing I would change is the mirror.....to small really and think the type and size of those mirrors that are used by the Police/Army etc to check for bombs attached to under side of cars may be better.....just a small criticism..
  10. Toilet

Wet compartment on your belt pouch......no need to get off the ladder then !!!!!
  11. Moerman liquidator 2.0 squeegee

    Thank you Dave..
  12. Renting a property as a self employed windy

As Clisty said....doable but nightmare. I did it about 9 years ago but had to pay 6 months rent up front plus 1 month deposit !!!! I would sound out the letting agents and put them in the picture.
  13. Moerman liquidator 2.0 squeegee

Hi lads, Thank you for your replies with your experience/tips/video clip....will look at Liquidator later and use your advice to rectify problem. I have also emailed Moerman tech department and will see what they have to say !!!!!!
  14. Hi, New to WC and have been using a Moerman Liquidator 2.0... The rubber keeps moving in the clips which results in the rubber being of unequal lengths and me having to do more detailing than I expected with this item... Would be grateful for any ideas as to why and solutions please ?????
