Just wondering if anyone cleans Bourn?

HI RW, I go past most days but rarely stop there. Its part of a group called BH Live I believe, they also own the gym at Queens Park and at least 2 others. Got a gut feeling its council owned/run !!! Patrick

    World Cup fever

RW.. I am in Branksome Park.. Thanks for heads up on sign writing. I get a 5 year old Nissan NV200 tomorrow. A major step up for me from my now dead 17 year old Fiesta van, been using my partners car all week which is a pain in the **** but I am very grateful to her. I have been in business 18 months working with barriels and backpack and now need to sort static tank/pump/controller etc etc and sign write van. Business has really taken off this spring/summer and I can see lots more coming my way. I will keep an eye out for you. Patrick

RW.. Where are you based down here in Dorset ?? I saw your van on the Westbourne bypass Tuesday tea time. Van looks great, I have just got a newer van and need it sign written.. Can I ask where you got it sign written, would you recommend them and how much they charged ??? Cheers Patrick

    Gardener backpack problem

Had similar problem recently...is the motor running ??? If so, it's an airlock. Not many parts/electrical wires for something else to go wrong.
  5. Hi all, If you own an old slapper of a van ( like me but its legal) then are you aware of the new much tougher MOT rules coming in on the 20th May !!!! The link will tell you what's changing. Happy reading !!! https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mot-changes-20-may-2018
  6. Hi all, Has anyone paid for advertising on Netmums website and if so what success did you have ??? And what about these small community magazines.....have you used them and had much success ???
  7. I rarely use a ladder except for the odd gutter job (Vac man)....if I do use ladder its my decisions and mine only...I wont be pressurised. I use a sandbag made of hessian as an extra man to stop ladder slip. Cost about £6-7 from Travis Perkins.
  8. Lucky man and benefit of using the right gear !!!! http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/15695971.Window_cleaner_left_hanging_in_mid_air_after_falling_from_a_crane/

  13. Hi all, Read loads on here before starting out as a windy and more since.....great site and thanks to everyone who has contributed. I guess this may help those wishing to join us all "on the glass". I currently have a job working shifts and started out p/time as a windy on the 1st January. Got a small old Fiesta van and work using a Gardiners SLX25 & backpack and carry my pure water in barrels. Hopefully will be in a position next summer to get larger van and static tank and more equipment. Mainly do wfp but some trad. I work a 6 week round to fit in with my roster but have the odd fortnightly & 8 weekly. I have small & large houses, some flats , couple of shops and the odd commercial job. I seem to pick up lots of F/S/G cleans and also have a gutter vac. What advice can I give as a newbie myself ???? 1. Leave business cards everywhere. 2. Leaflets work 3. Say hello to everyone whilst you are cleaning.....they may walk up to you and want to become a customer one day 4. Get a website 5. Go and quote on every enquiry....DO not worry about trying to make a fortune, just get the job....more better paying work will come your way if they like you and your work !!!! 6. DON'T worry about getting a compact round in week one.....the gaps will close if you do 1,2, and 3 above. 7.And lastly, don't be treated as a fool and don't be scared to say NO to a job if it's dangerous, lots of aggro and if they think you are a fool !!! Happy cleaning and remember to look after your pole !!!!

    Windows abroad !!!

Had interesting chat with a friend last night who is originally from Belarus. He said in most European & Baltic state countries the windows open inwards (into the room) and NOT out like here in the UK. Thankfully ours do or all of us and this site would be redundant !!!
