@Marko067 Ok thanks. That's helpful, I couldn't really find the specs of the Gardiner pump on their website.  I do use univalve.  I just want to make sure I purchase something that's going to work and give a longer than minimum life span.

So tried connecting the pump wires direct to car battery. Not sure what's meant to happen, but didn't see any change. Just some crackling from the end of the wires.  Can you send a guide on how to change the pump?  For other members of forum as well - what would be an appropriate pump to...

Sorry if these are really basic questions. I'm a bit useless at DIY!  I really appreciate the help. I had to clean these facia boards by hand in the week, so would do anything to not have to repeat that!

I've taken the hose connector off so that should be fine.  For the second stage of directly trying pump on battery, would I need to disconnect the pump wires from the twist connectors and then touch to battery?
