They look amazing.
I saw your thread on that trolley build. Maybe it's something I'll progress towards slowly! I've bookmarked it for when I'm feeling brave.
I was mainly wondering if there's one I could buy that would provide a longer lifespan. The one I found provided a years warranty, but understand that was too much psi and as Alex mentioned warranty might not be covered.
Gardiners one only lasted 9 months of being used for about 2hrs a week. So...
@Alex Gardiner
Hi Alex
Thanks for the instructions.
If the next test shows it is the micro-switch that needs changing can you recommend where to source one?
Thank you all for the responses on your Bank Holiday Monday.
@Marko067
Ok that makes sense. "Short out" means disconnect? I'll test the pump again without the pressure switch when I get in.
I will study your microswitch images in more detail also, thank you for sharing them.
@Apw1210@Iron Giant
I do apologise for my novice questions. I do have a lack...
@Marko067
Ok thanks. That's helpful, I couldn't really find the specs of the Gardiner pump on their website.
I do use univalve.
I just want to make sure I purchase something that's going to work and give a longer than minimum life span.
So tried connecting the pump wires direct to car battery. Not sure what's meant to happen, but didn't see any change. Just some crackling from the end of the wires.
Can you send a guide on how to change the pump?
For other members of forum as well - what would be an appropriate pump to...
@Alex Gardiner
I sent an email Friday, 30th @ 17:42. Was awaiting response, but had assumed that I wouldn't get one till the next working day. We have been playing ping-pong with the emails as I'm only able to run tests after working hours.
The battery seems fine given the below multimeter...
@Alex Gardiner
Thanks for the response.
Yes I'm still awaiting a response from the customer service team. Understand that it's a bank holiday weekend though, so that could be the reason for the delay.
How would you best recommend testing the pump? Someone above mentioned connecting it to car...
@ched999uk
So ran both tests and nothing. For pump direct to battery I tried the below.
How'd will I know if its the battery or the pump that needs replacing though?
Sorry if these are really basic questions. I'm a bit useless at DIY!
I really appreciate the help. I had to clean these facia boards by hand in the week, so would do anything to not have to repeat that!
I've taken the hose connector off so that should be fine.
For the second stage of directly trying pump on battery, would I need to disconnect the pump wires from the twist connectors and then touch to battery?
@ched999uk
Thanks appreciate the tips.
So I'll disconnect the connector and just lay the wire on the battery? Or touch wire to battery when turned on?
I have been running my test with water in backpack, but can take it out to test as described
I'm no electrician, part of me doubts if I've put the spade connector on right, but I replace the red wire one last September and that went fine. Im not sure if there's some basic wire technique than I'm screwing up on!
Ill attach photos below.
1) dark mark below casing where the pump is. I'm...

Thanks to you all for the responses.
"So first thing to do is charge battery. Does the voltmeter show a good voltage (you will need the switch in pos 1 or 2 to see voltage)?"
No lights appear on the voltmeter at anytime. When plugged into charger, the powerpack shows a...
Hi guys.
Just wanted to see if there was an easy solve to the backpack issues that I've had this week.
The Gardiner Backpack I use is about 9 months old. Im 90% trad, but it gets used about every other day for a little bit. Always keep charged and everything. Would have thought it woild have...
