Hello everyone !

Im new to the forum but not to window cleaning .

Im looking for a bit of advice , I'm currently running a 4040 , hf5 with a reasonable tap pressure . I'm filling a 1000litre Ibc in about 7hrs and getting 002ppm before resin and that's off tap pressure 55psi  125ppm and no booster pump . I've always been happy with that for me and the lad , but we are adding a van and I'm looking to speed up production so I'm looking to add a booster pump , possibly from machine mart or the water genie pump in a box , so the question I'm asking is how much will this speed up production, what are you guys getting ?

Also a bit of a seperate question I seem to get a lot of waste , but my valve will only turn so far and locks , before it locks it's all waste and no product then a tiny turn it's locked as if it's set to that position , so it doesn't allow me to turn further to reduce the waste and increase the product , again I've been happy enough with my production so I've never questioned it  , but now I'm looking for quicker production I'm wondering if I should change the valve , am I correct in thinking this is a safety feature on the valve to prevent me damaging the membrane ?

I use a Machinemart Clarke booster pump and can produce around 400-450lts per hour.

This does tail off a bit during cold weather, it’s well worth the investment in my opinion.

Thats what I would do. Most have a 1/2" brass gate valve. Purefreedom drill on small hole in the paddle of their valves so its impossible to shut the waste off totally as this will damage the membrane. I thought this a good idea as I was concerned that it could be fiddled with when I wasn't there, so I drilled a 1mm hole in mine. I think Purefreedom drill a 2mm hole but please don't take that as gospel. I don't fully close my gate valve even with the hole drilled in the paddle - I still have wriggle room for adjustment.

At your tap water tds you need to be at around a ratio of 50% waste to 50% pure. You might even be able to squeeze this a little more to 45% waste to 55% pure. I found 40% waste to 60% pure means the membrane isn't working quite as well as 50/50.

We managed fine with 3 cleaners filling with a 4040. But we did need to stagger filling times. I could never get the third member of the team to fill up in the pm as we agreed so I used to fill my own van at night as a way around it.

My van has a 650 liter tank and the 2 lads had 500 liter tanks in their vans. The only tank that got filled when empty was SIL's tank. Mine was half full and sons was a little under half full, so mostly we could fill both small vans in the morning without too much issue.

My r/o is operated on a solenoid system so automatically switches off when the IBC tank is full. I could have added an extra IBC tank to solve the problem but it would take up space in the garage I just didn't have.

Hi spruce , thanks for the comprehensive answer , it definitely makes sense because the 4040 was from pure freedom. I'll get that valve swapped over . I've toyed with the idea of staggering the filling times but the extra van will be doing a lot of 1st cleans at the beginning and it's a smaller van so it may require random fills throughout the day as well, although the staggering fills would certainly work once everything becomes maintenance. Thanks for the input , much appreciated!
