Don't dump your used DI resin after changing it, keep hold of it.
I have a 10" filter housing, with a refillable catridge which I fill with the spent DI resin. I have this after my pre-filters, and even though the resin is "spent" it will lower my TDS reading from around 270ppm to somewhere between 70 - 150ppm before going into my first DI vessel (I have a twin DI set up as I only use 400L a week).
It might only last a couple of tanks before I need to refill the cartridge again, but anything which extends the life of my DI has to be worth it.
