Would adding say 40 to 50 litres into a 325 affect the tds in the water leaving spots?, My tap water is 17 when it comes out. I've put an aquarium heater in it over night too.

I would however check the hot water TDS, everytime, before adding it.
I did a bit of experimenting with pure water I had cold pure and it read 000 I put some in a saucepan and heated it on the hob at 50 degrees I had a tds reading of 10 , once the water cooled to ambient temperature it read 000 again so when it’s heated the tds increases I believe it’s something to do with the speed the molecules move at in hot water .

Just to clarify you aren't cleaning windows with pure water then as you have a hot water system

I'm running my hot all day at the moment. Handy when cleaning windscreen with brush as the hot water melts the ice. ?
It was a hot day in summer a couple of years ago, and I used the cold water from my tank to wash the windscreen. A large crack appeared in the windscreen, running from the bottom of the screen to the top. It came from a tiny stone chip hardly noticeable at the very bottom of the windscreen. For years I used to pour cold tap water over the windscreen to defrost it; I won't now.

(y)Baffles me why people don't spend £20 and get a windscreen cover as it's all the windscreens that are worse the rest of the car or van is easier to sort out yet people chew on scraping their windscreens
Bought one from amazon the other day Windscreen cover with mittens! it fits the Berlingo quite well, not sure there are actually magnets but the bottom tucks over the wipers and under bonnet edge (don't need to open bonnet to fit). It also has what remind me of mittens with the elastic that some kids had threaded through their coats :) they fit the mirrors well. Used it over the weekend and it worked great today, went out and it was covered in ice. Took it off, put in the garage and the windscreen was completely clear. It didn't prevent the washer jets from freezing which was a pain as I had to take it for it's MOT this afternoon so out with hairdryer and after about 20 mins all working and it passed.

Not sure whats going on in our neck of the woods with regard to MOT's. I need a class 7 and the only available slot in the last 3 weeks of December is next Tuesday at 8.30 in our whole area.
When Covid was raging we could extend MOT's for 6 months which meant that cars due for MOT in February into summer were postponed and then caused a testing backlog in summer and Autumn. But this is the third year I've had issues with finding an MOT slot in December. It appears that the spin-off is that the quieter MOT months are in Spring.

It does seem a bit busier than normal. I normally book online the day before but this time I had to book a week in advance and that's just a class 4.
When we used to have a motorhome (3500kg) I used to take it to our ambulance service centre, don't know if that's an option for you?
It passed with no advisories :)

I have a heated windscreen on my van.i press a button and a min later it's melted!they should have them on all vehicles IMO.
The vast majority of cars and vans don't though, you see people chewing on scraping their windows or with a **** spray can of de-icer and their freezing whilst doing it.

The covers work for me and my wife so that's the bonus for us well me so I don't have two motors to sort out on a morning

Problem has been that Ford patented heated windscreens - so unless you want a Ford (or ford group) there was no option! I won't buy another Ford after them refusing a warranty claim for rust on rear wheel arches on a mk5 escort when they had known for 30 years the way they made the rear arches caused the rot!

Now their patent has expired and more vans are coming with bells and whistles I'm sure we will see more choice - plus it uses less electricity in electric cars to have a heated windscreen, same as some have heated steering wheels and seats as it's more efficient that heating air to be blown round the vehicle.

I wish we had a heated front windscreen.
We used to see a number of cars come into the workshop in winter with the windows full of condensation. It has been a feature of Citroen's for many years to have an electrically controlled internal air circulation on the cars, that automatically switches off with the ignition. These owners must activate that internal air circulation button every time they get into the car.

I defrost the wife's car every morning it's needed, but I insist the car draws air from outside once travelling to remove moisture from the air inside the car from breathing and wet shoes.

I haven't seen a Tesla with condensation on the windows, so they must have got the ventilation in winter weather sorted out.
