Over the past few days I have noticed my shurflow pump has started to make a ticking / clicking sound some of the time when in use. Has anyone else experienced this ? Pump is around 18 months old and used 5 days a week.

If you are using a digital controller it could possibly be that it needs recallibrating for the colder weather.

The colder water will require more pressure to push it through your hose so it's posible it's causing the pressure switch to kick in before the controller cuts it off.  Just a thought.  Mine did something similar when I changed hoses to a smaller bore one

The pressure switch is disconnected as its run off the varistream control. Didn't get noise last year when water was cold. Maybe I should get another pump as a back up. Thought shurflow pumps lasted years?

Apparently there are a lot of iffy ones out there at the moment. I believe the genuine ones should have a silver and blue label and a prominent CE mark on them.

They should last years. I have one that's been used as a booster pump for nearly three years and run for up to eight hours at a time sometimes longer. Before that it was on a freedom trolley that was my main bit of kit for 7 years and it still gives a good account for itself.

Don't think its a fake one as got it from a reputable company. Was having issues with loss of flow at brush head
untill@spruce pointed out I was running the varistream with the pump pressure switch connected. Since I have disconnected the pressure switch the flow at the head Is ok most of the time but did play up a bit today. It must be a mechanical issue with the pump. Not sure how long it will last like this tho. Thinking of changing to analogue control as varistream seems like a lot of messing about sometimes

It's on its way out. Mine done this and it worked the odd day etc. I would deffinetely buy another one to have as a spare until it packs in. Mine broke my heart working and then not working

One of ours was noisy quite a while back. It was the screws securing the diaphram body together that needed tightening up.

The 3.8lpm pump on the van is nearly 12 years old and the other 5.2lpm pump is nearly 11 years old. I bought a spare pump over 5 years ago in case one of them failed and its still in my office.
