Hi, I’ve been looking into getting into exterior cleaning for the past year or so.

Now I have a bit of money sitting there to start-up, I was wondering if anyone was or is considering selling up before I go and purchase things new?

I’m in a soft water area.

Thanks.

I'd continue to save as van prices alone are rising drastically. Buying someone's van and equipment isn't a business until you have a full compliment of customers. You also need to know about the industry before trying to start out.

Have you any previous experience in external cleaning and the effort needed to generate a sustainable income

You’ve made me realise I misunderstood the question. If the OP is after a van, not a round then my sarcasm was misdirected.

Respectfully, you’re wanting to buy an established business for a “bargain”…. Yeah man, we keep that on the shelf at the back next to the winning lottery tickets ??

I remember the last time you said that and Green pro was rushing around Tryna find his cheque book ???
As said above, potentially people looking to grow selling there old gear off - could of worded the post better but definitely will be people out there considering selling parts of there setups - if not full

I’ve done bits and pieces not much to be fair do my own and some relatives but not water fed poles, so no.

The van prices are extortionate at the moment I do agree I’ve been considering a few options with that I have round 15k sitting there at the moment and there is quite a gap in the market around me I’m always seeing Facebook posts looking for window cleaners - One of the reasons I do my own is because there isn’t many reliable to do my estate.

appreciate any advice coming my way

You're better off in my opinion buying new equipment. Secondhand is normally overpriced tat

Check the classified thread or ebay
Will bare in mind mate, I have checked eBay and seen a few things on there wasn’t too much cheaper than new

facebook marketplace and ebay are good places to find used stuff.

Make sure you get one of Gardiners back packs - they're a great bit of kit even if you only have one to fall back on in case your van pump is out of action - unless it freezes solid like mine did today (that'll teach me for not emptying it lol).

Get the best pole you can. CLX is fine for ground and 1st floor work but 2nd floors are a pain and slow so SLX would be better if you can find a good used one as they're not as floppy.

Good luck!

With things like poles I think it’s better buying new rather than second hand as the first owner will have had the best out of it and generally you will end up with a pole with spinning sections quite quickly, second hand hose reels , and other similar things yes no problem ,but as you have already seen some second hand stuff sells for nearly new prices I have sometimes Evan seen them sell for more than new,  brushes are a classic for  this .if after a system then secondhand can be very cost effective just be careful with the filters always find out what it will cost to replace them all and take this into account before making an offer , but if you are ok with a bit of diy then you can save a lot of money doing this .
