i don't get how they can be opened, when in use, as you must be a least 7 ft tall to use it

You open it out along the floor then foot the base cap against kerb/mate's foot then walk it up from the brush end.

I wonder how you actually take it to work, looks like it needs a bus! Maybe a LWB Transit will do.

I've gone uo to 65 foot. And you don't need to extend it on the floor and then walk it up and you don't need to be 7ft tall. The first couple of sections can be done at a 45degree angle and then rest it on the wall at an angle and you'd be surprised how easy it is to extend. And i've used poles that collapsed are much taller than me.

If you have a job that is 7/8 storeys high then you should be charging enough money to make this purchase worthwhile.
