Hi I've got to waterproof my van soon ,just looked on line and there's a kit you can buy?is it worth getting or just a big tin of it? Any advice would be on how you did yours .

We ended up using a paintbrush. You can buy the large scotchbrite type pads at the hardware store to take the shine off the paint so the Protectakote has a surface to adhere to.

Buy some masking tape to define a cutoff on the sides. once the van is painted the masking tape is removed and you will get a clear definition line. But you must remember to 'sand' down the sides as well.

You will need 2 coats, one done first one way and then the other done at 90 degrees to the first one.

The kit comes with a 4 liter tin of ProtectorKote. I think I only used just over 1/2 that on my Citroen Relay van. So if you are treating something small, 2 x 1 liter tins should be enough.
