booster pump auto shutoff

I'm buying a 450gpd ro system with a 1000lt tank to go in my garage, I'm getting a aquatec 8800 booster pump to go with it. The ro comes with a "ball cock" type shut off to turn off the water when the tanks full, I need something to turn the pump off as well, a pressure or solanoid switch of some sort?? any ideas?

thanks, but there must be a cheaper alternative? i don't use rain water and I already have a ballcock to turn the water off so, although it sounds good, it does more than I need.

If you are electrically minded here's my solution. I have had this in operation for the past 8 years or so.

Float switch from Machine Mart. (It is the same as used on a submersible pump but is wired up the other way round - switches on when empty and off when full.)

A length of conduit and two cable glands.

You will be able to set this up in such a way that the float switch will switch the pump off before the r/o switches off.

However, I would recommend that you can get that on/off ball **** valve to work before you start getting involved with setting up a booster pump. ave you any idea what this ball **** valve is and how it works.

BTW, I have a 220v normally off solenoid valve which this operates. This valve switches the water supply to the r/o off, so it's like switching the tap off. I could wire a booster pump directly into this float switch so the moment the r/o switches on the booster pump switches on as well. Conversely, as soon as the IBC tank is full. the switch will switch both the solenoid valve and booster pump off at the same time.

Thanks, I appreciate your time and help, the REVERSE OSMOSIS AUTO SHUT OFF KIT I've ordered is from collins water products, the guy I spoke to said it's easy to set up.

I understand what you're saying ( I think!! ) but electrics aren't my thing and this might be a bit much for me, I would have a go but not too sure about wiring the switch the other way round and i don't know how solanoid valves work.

The first shows the solenoid valve coupled directly to a mains plug. The second shows the float switch added and the third shows adding your booster pump.

I should have stated that doing this isn't best electrical practice. But I reason a 230v submersible pump is under water so I don't see too much of an issue. I do strongly suggest that this is used in conjunction with an rcd plug though.

Here's a solenoid valve, 1/2", 230v, normally closed.

I have the r/o plumbed into the house water system. I have an isolator on the pipe outlet into the garage.

15mm Chrome compression Isolating Isolation Service ballofix valve CP valves x 2

I pipe that into a cabinet which housing my r/o and di vessel. I have a ball valve connected to the solenoid valve so I can easily switch the water off without crawling under the cabinet with a flat screw driver. Solenoid valve to the prefilters is reinforced plastic hose. (My r/o setup is in a cabinet which it temperature controlled at 10 degrees during winter.)

I have a ordinary hozelok male threaded into the solenoid valve. I use a stop hozelok tap connector on the plastic reinforced hose. I did this as I need remove the prefilters so I can change the cartridges outside the garage on a table.

Thanks again, i can follow most of it but dont really understand how the solenoid works or fits in, I've got my RO system and booster pump fitted now and it's all 1/4 inch hose
