Our guys get that a lot, which can be pretty annoying, but you just need to take it on the chin. People are strange, and it you can accomodate you just get on with other work. About 75% of our work is commercial, and a good proportion is insides, so we usually re-schedule work on rainy days to avoid residential stuff. Don't know what the problem is personally, as it's bound to rain at some point after cleaning them, but there's no accounting for what some people think

I think you had the right approach, with offering a reclean. But the one thing you didn't say which could have helped is.

"We can't accommodate that I am afraid If all our customers asked us not clean their windows every time there was a little rain, we would not make money, and would not be able to offer our service at all, to anyone. I can promise you it will not make your windows dirty, and if it does, I will give you your money back. But if you insist that you only want your windows cleaned when its dry, I am afraid we would have to cancel your service, as we would never get to you."

Just be straight with her. I might not seem like it would be that big a deal now, but wait until you're fully booked, and have a bad winter. This kind of thing, would just be a cherry on the cake, that will have you loose it with a customer. So set a good requisite now. That way you won't have more problems, down the line. I know you don't want to lose any customers, but if you're confident in your delivery, 90% of the time you won't. Instead you'll have a good customer that won't mess you about again.

I had two last month, there that came out and asked us not to clean their windows. Both due to weather. I told them the above, as well as explained that we have an intermittent use of service policy. Where customers are charged a £5 call out, if they don't give us 48 hours notice, and customers who regularly, cancel us, after driving out to them, will have there services suspended. Both customers allowed us to clean them, and went back inside.

I think when you just tell them, look I am really sorry but, customers doing that costs us allot of money, and wastes our time. They are automatically put on the spot, and you get a change of attitude right away. The thing is, it is completely ridiculous. I think people just don't contemplate, what they are actually expecting of you. How they expect you to make money, when they mess you about is unfathomable.

Create package, that works, that makes you money, then stick to it. Don't compromise with the odd customer. Because it will reverberate through all your customers like a cancer. Sit down and run the figures, don't just assume, you can make it work. Then when customers, ask for this sort of thing, you can give a full explanation of costs, and why you won't continue to offer your service with that prerequisite.
