Conservatories And Gutters

Hi guys. First post but been reading round the forum a lot this week, learned a lot so first of all thanks to all of you!

I'm just starting out, getting all my equipment, uniform, leaflets, business cards etc. this month ready to start in October. I was just wondering what special equipment is needed for cleaning conservatories (incl, roof) and gutters. I'm gonna be running a pretty compact setup, wanted to know if it's something i'll be able to offer or not.

Gutters:

-Ladder

-Ladder stand off (not needed but saves breaking/bending guttering etc)

-Small bucket

-Trowel (not needed)

-Rubber gloves, gardening one works best and are re-usable

-Black bags for rubbish

Conservatory roofs:

-Ladder

-Ladders stand off (not needed but saves breaking/bending guttering etc)

-Telescopic brush (car cleaning ones work well)

-Viro sol, its a cleaning prdoduct a good one at that.

-Hose and hose rell with the gun. basic gardening one will do.

-Pressure sprayer for spraying viro sol

I think thats about it, I may have forgot somethings?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

This is defo the best forum for honest advice and help.

There are a lot of options and I am sure others will tell you about them but when I started (10 years ago) I used ladders, sponge and soap and water for gutters and conservatories.

I also used extendable pole for reaching con roof!

This is hard work and a pain because you are up and down ladder but its a good earner and a cheap way of doing it!

I did many a gutter and con this way with excellent results.

For clearing gutters out, it's either ladders or a gutter vac.. I use ladders, but am thinking of a gutter vac very soon for unsafe and impossible ladder situations..

For cleaning outside of guttering, fascias and soffits.. And also full conservatories.. I would use a water fed pole.. You can make a DIY brush for approx £50 ( I did and honestly it is pants for cleaning anything but windows as the sections slip and spin ) but I am now using the DIY brush to spray virosol ( I only found viro when I joined this site it's brilliant ) and my window cleaning brush for PVC cleaning etc... Forget a sponge idea, I once done a house by ladder took me nearly 2 days for £200.. I done the house next door when I got my pole.. Charged them £80 and took me just over 2 hours... Same houses..

I used the sponge way for a few years and could do standard 4 bed detached in 4-5 hours!

£120 for 4-5 hours work with no major outlay isnt bad is it??

Their garage had more PVC than a standard detached house!! Then the house was huge too.. Should have been more than £200 but try are good customers

How do you clean a conny off a ladder? How do you reach the finishings to clean them? It's bad enougth with a wfp.

Theres a lot of green stuff stuck in the small seems/joints ive never tried but it would be near impossible to get it off with an applicator

I have cleaned the glass on a glass roof with a mop and blade.. Thank god for the water fed pole!!

All my Connie roofs I do with just a wfp car pole and brush connected to a hose. My custies are quite happy with this as it gets the dust & bird **** off & the green **** & leaves it clean. If they want a pucker job then yeah use a wfp system but that costs them more. Depends what the custie wants. For my gutter I have a plastic trowel from wcw that screws onto yer pole & you don't have to move the ladder so much as you can reach either side of you about 5-6 foot. Good idea to have a broom for the **** that's falls on the floor. Stand off is good idea as resting yer ladder on the gutter can damage the gutter and it could also slip. Little hand brush can help to. Bucket clips over yer ladder.

extendable soft bristled brush, you can pick them up everywhere for about 15quid. in the bucket, scrub the roof, hose down, job done!
