Cracks In Glass

Guys, when it comes to cleaning window's, and if it's got a crack, no matter how big or small, or if its double glazed, do you clean it or leave it, or just spray some water on it?

Personally I leave it well alone!

If I have given a verbal quote, and on my arrival, cust not in, and one or more window/s has a crack on it, I just leave those window's (that have the crack) and let cust know. If cust is in, and I see the cracks I let them know I don't clean them.

What are your thoughts.... Do you clean them or stay well clear?!

i just rub my brush over them quickly /emoticons/smile.png make sure u put no pressure on the glass mate /emoticons/smile.png and thats it

As long as it's not loose I clean it. Winter time I would keep away from them in case the water I put on the windows freezes and cracks it more.

IMO I wouldn't bother with it personally. If its single pain water runs down inside and custie gets upset. Double glazed is usually so manky between the panes custie cant tell, just don't charge for it. unless big dollop of bird poo and then I just cloth it off. Still do frames though

I do NOT see how this is even up for debate. Logic should dictate this:

If any window has a crack don't clean it unless told to.

A customer can always blame you for breaking it, even if they knew it was there.

And as an excess on someone's insurance can be around £250 then it's not logical to take the risk.

Nobody can blame you for not doing it and a customer has NEVER gotten angry about someone not doing it.

If someone's logic dictates they clean a broken window without consulting the customer then they have a screw loose.

Why clean a £10 house for 2 years just to lose all the earnings getting blamed for breaking a window? (example)

I agree with masons on this it is pure common sense .

I have a customer who 1 patio door window is broken

Also a bathroom window i have never cleaned them in the 4 visits i habe been

They still pay me the same as the neighbour though .

I explained i wont charge extra when they get them fixed lol .

let the customer know it is cracked and that I will leave it till they replace the glass.
