DI resin only

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Depends on your tds mate, the lads on here reckon if your tds is 100 or under then you can go just di route, if its over youl need an ro also.

What is your tds?

Youl have to buy a tds meter to get a reading from your tap water, 25quid they are.

Oh an welcome to the forum mate.

hi Francie, thanks for the welcome. I've been window cleaning many years and took a break from it for the last 5. just setting up again.
I'm waiting on my tds meter and thought 100 was maximum for di only. according to a hard water map the average for my area is 145 but the wife thinks it is probably lower

Your welcome mate, i bought a 450gpd ro from collins water products, 180 quid delivered to the north of ireland.

Really good product mate if you need one.

Are you knew to water fed mate?

I'm di only and three months ago when I switched wfp my ppm was 70.

I've recently seen my resin use increase and guess what it's gone up to 103pm

The only difference is that there is a housing estate being built up the road.

I wondered if it has any bearing on it. Any ideas?

Francie I had a van mounted system from pure freedom.
I have bought a 400gpd RO unit on the basis of the hard water map but as I'm starting up again I'm not going to be using much for a few weeks.

Not sure mate, maybe someone more experienced on here could answer, but i think it naturally fluctuates up an down a bit.

Hi DMW it more than likely will affect it. we have several estates being built around me, thankfully they are almost complete. has your water pressure changed?

It could be a lot of reasons or a combination of them.

Our water authority's principal supplier is Kielder dam in the Scottish Boarders. But Northumbrian Water also supplement that water from many existing small dams locally.

The tap water was at one time 254ppm. Some major work was done (apparently) and the tds dropped to 125ppm and the water pressure increased from 40psi to 50psi. Now the tds fluctuates. It was 79 the other day but is usually at around 100ppm. So the hardness or softness of your water could well depend on where or which dam or reservoir the water is being drawn from that particular day/week.

We are also having a housing estate build adjoining ours with 149 houses. My concern is going to be water pressure. The good thing is that they will all be on water meters and that generally is self regulatory so I hope our pressure isn't affected too much.

I may have to resort to overnight processing if the water pressure does drop too much.

No difference in water pressure really, just increase in Tds.

Started monitoring Tds in October always around 70 ppm

Maybe it'll fall back.

I'm in Lancashire i think we're provided from the Lake District although I can't be sure,

I'm Di only it usually takes me 35-40 minutes to fill my 500 litre tank.

There is also planning permission up the hill from us to build 95 houses,

As you say it may be supply and demand conditions where the water is sourced from,

At first I thought it may have been me although I use tulsion resin I was questioning whether I'd connected the vessels correctly.

Wait and see but I'm still glad I made the change if it's a bit of extra cash so be it

Thanks.

Its all about what you are comfortable with and how you see your circumstances. Nobody has the right to criticize you - they can make a suggestion as to another way of doing something, but at the end of the day its what works for you.
