Hi Guys,

I've been thinking of changing my van from my escort with 250 litre system to a Transit and fitting a 650 litre system. Anyway, the thought crossed my mind that I could keep my escort and lend it to a family member for 12 months and use a transit to expand unit I could split the work in two and use both vans. This is just hyperthetical thinking.

Anyway I went on confused.com with the details of a transit for sale by mine and got a quote for that van and then both vans. I live in quite a strange part of my town as it comes under one post code and name of the rough estate up the road but its actually not as bad and the bottom of my road changes post code to a nice part of my area. If I tell anyone where I live and the name of the town I live in they tell me I'm wrong and the road I live in is the nice area but I it's not.

Anyway, enough of that, I had a play around with the quotes and I decided to add the post code of a unit to see if having a unit would lower my quote. Low and behold. If I had both vans on the drive outside the unit it would cost me less than if I had one van at my address. If I had both vans and then got the unit the drop in insurance would pay half the months rent on the unit! I know there are other bills involved but what a wierd outcome.

Colley how many customers u got mate ?

its expensive having both vans on the road.... but if their both going to be used for work day in and day out then go for it.

I've only got 40 odd customers at the moment. I'm finding though that my escort van isn't big enough to do first cleans and I'm constantly returning home to fill my tank back up. That's why I wanted a bigger van and system. But instead of selling the escort van I was thinking of lending it to my cousin for 12 months as he's gone back to uni. So he can't afford a new vehicle but he could afford fuel on my van and insurance. My escort van did around 200 miles on £20 last week!

Another thing I've found strange is that a swb transit will cost me a lot less to insure than my escort van.

40 odd customers mate ? I got 350 litre tank and i got over 90 customers....

Why dont u just get 4 x 25litre containers ? thats an extra 100litres with you....

So your cousins going to use a van to get about in ? If your going to go for the transit sell the astra van and get him a car instead.... such as a vauxhall corsa or nissan micra its much cheaper to run then an astra van mate

Think about the tear and wear of the van if you lend it to anyone... youir going to be out of pocket at the end of the day mate but if its your cousing then why not /emoticons/smile.png

I might just keep the van or sell it and get a transit. I'm not too sure at the moment, was just a shock that if I lived a mile up the road the insurance would be the same on both vans as it is on mine at the moment
