I placed orders with both the window cleaning warehouse in Barry and Window Cleaning stuff in Edinburgh as there web sites both said they carried stock. Only to find out later they didn’t!! Window cleaning warehouse had the decency to email me after four days to tell me. Window Cleaning stuff in Edinburgh didn’t even bother. I had to call them. [emoji35][emoji35]

I’ve just got off the phone from a bloke at Window Cleaning supplies in Stoke who’s apparently got loads!

Absolute ***** customer service from the for mentioned companies who I won’t be using again.

Alarm bells start ringing here. Find out what the batch number is on the bag to see if it is genuine.

They are also using our photo's and we do not supply to them!!

They also sell Unger resin but Unger have only limited this to several companies so I doubt they are selling it direct maybe through a third party.

The website looks like a drop ship site so they are placing an order with someone else.

I'd be very surprised if they have stock as there is none,

I’ve just bin gettin it off eBay. Don’t know if it’s genuine but its costing me about £15 of resin per month to produce around 6000 litres of pure through a double di setup. Out my tap it’s around 40ppm.

To be honest I’ve never really worked out weather an ro unit would save me any money as it’s costing me peanuts anyway. Certainly not in the short term. Plus I’d need to sort a space out to keep a storage tank which after this cold snap I’m guessing is a bit of a ball ache compared to my di vessels which I just keep in my van. I’m guessing at £15 per month that I’m paying now minus the cost of running an ro unit would take years if not a decade to make my money back on buying a full ro setup. If any one can correct me I’d love to hear it as I’m always open to saving a few quid.

My tap water is around 46 . It did go up to 80 odd and is back down to 45 so I bought a to system . It makes it slow but I have it well stocked up. I have resin bottles in the van for if I need to fill up. I would say I’ve saved a right bit on resin. Tonight is the 3rd time I’ve changed resin in the ro since I got it. Seemed like I was changing my resin bottles all the time!

Ro can be a lot more expensive because decent 450gpd ro is £205 then you need a static tank £10 upwards on ebay and a shed £150 minimum if you plan on placing the set up in a shed, then you need a sub pump and hose £80 to transfer water to van, finally changing pre-filters £20 a year. Total set up £450 in first year then £20 a year for the next 20 years 

Double di set up lets say 11ltr vessels filled with resin £412 maybe use 2 bags of resin a year £180 every year if you can get hold of any resin that is. Total for first year £592 then £180 a year every year lets say for the next 20 years.

Just be careful online there's a lot of dodgy black stuff knocking about. Learn from my mistake. Caveat Emptor.

My calculations maybe a budget set up if you like. But with a resin shortage now what's it going to be like in the next few months and years. Long term ro is way cheaper by £1,000's over 10 years and more.

Like I said in an earlier post, I’ve never had a problem getting hold of resin. It really baffles me when I hear about shortages. When that day comes maybe it’s somethin to think about but for now the I’d say for anyone who gets water out their tap at 40/50ppm or less a double Di plus one extra clean per month far outweighs running and maintaining an ro.

Fair do’s as at your peak your nearly doubling my average ppm so I can see your benefits. For me a few quid here and there ain’t worth the extra hassle.

Thought the life span is about 2 to 3 years can`t we stock pile? Is there other problems?

I also personally found using a di set up over a period of time was a absolute pain, you have to check for tds creep 2-3 times a week or more which for me was nigh on impossible down to the fact i have an appalling memory i would forget for days or weeks i had a ppm of 23 once then 45ppm  :1f602:  i only got one complaint.

I’ve judt changed from double Di to 4040 ro, best thing I feel I’ve done.

my tap TDS is 76ppm and I found as I started out the resin lasted as I didn’t use that much water but now I make a lot more money I was changing a bottle out every 3 weeks and worrying about the ppm creeping all the time, I’m sure the resin isn’t what it used to be either and I’ve always used mb115.

ive spent about £500 building a decent 4040 ro setup with hf5 membrane and I estimate in about a years time it will have paid for itself over the bags of resin I would have bought, I still use a di to polish the water off but it’s coming out the ro at 1-2ppm which is amazing, I’d work with it just like that lol but I don’t mind polishing it as the resin will last forever.

Wish I’d changed to ro sooner, I’d recommend it to anyone but go for a proper 4040 setup, I don’t see the point in holding tanks and trickling water in using the small ro setups personally.

I get you there. I’ve never let it slip that much though. Maybe to 2-3 at most. As for you not getting any complaints, I was speaking to a conny roof cleaning specialist and he’s said his tap water reads 25 and he stoped purifying his water ages ago as there was no difference to the visible eye even on glass roofs. There will probably be gurus comin out with scientific facts sayin only 0 will do but I’ve used water up to 5 before and to the naked eye you cannot tell a difference. There will be one but it’s so small you’d need a micro scope to see it.

I think it can depend if you are in a soft or hard water area as to whether tds creep beyond 0ppm will cause greater issues, my complaint came in the summer months so good light levels for clients to spot potential issues
