Are they 2 different names for the same size pipe?

The water inlet I've installed in my van takes hoselock on the outside and 12mm tubing inside (this seems readily available in caravan stores along with lots of fittings). DI vessel has 3/4" BSP ports and Gardner's have a fitting for connecting John Guest 1/2" tubing to the BSP port.

Can't find out online of they are the same, therefore that fitting would allow me to just stick with the 12mm caravan plumbing pipe that I already have [emoji848]

Where is your di vessel Beccy?

If its after the r/o then are you using JG 1/2" hose. (Is this a Gardiner 4021 or 4040 r/o) You mention hoselock and as @Clisty1989 says, they aren't the same.

I have ordinary garden hose between my r/o and the di vessel. (Provided you are using an r/o as the water is so soft in Scotland.)

From the r/o I have these that screw into the ports;

and these that the hose pushes on to

http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/hose-fittings-adapters/john-guest-fittings/1-2-fittings/a-john-guest-stem-to-a-barb.html

I could use the same fittings for the di vessel but could include a reducer

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-4-Bsp-Male-to-1-2-Bsp-Female-Nickel-Plated-Reducing-Bush-Pneumatic-Adapter/120702255069?hash=item1c1a6a3fdd:g:qJgAAOSwd4tUJBLI

Its the same reducer as the plastic or brass reducer used on hoselock tap connector fittings. It the small male piece that screws into the female part

You will just need to fix the hose with hose clamps and seal the threads the PTFE liquid sealer.

Or you could fit a couple of these (https://www.toolstation.com/shop/p39197?r=googleshopping&rr=marin&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&mkwid=s49AL9K7i_dc&pcrid=189687010075&pkw=&pmt=&product=39197&gclid=CjwKCAiA9f7QBRBpEiwApLGUipSBHPgQOd6rjXzqHkih0ZmrunB5v1BZ5BELTHQHppdBRSw15w2w9RoCiaUQAvD_BwE) to the DI vessel and use regular Hozelock fittings. The advantage of that is that Hozelock is so adaptable and you can get hold of brass fittings as well.

And another thing I like about Hozelock is that the rubber O rings are easily available and very cheap. And a quick very light smear of Vaseline or silicone grease ( I nick a bit from my wife's recorder case. It's the same stuff she uses to lube the joints) makes them slide easily and last for years.

I don't use RO, just DI.

The vessels will be these:
http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pure-water-systems/water-treatment/de-ionisation/11-litre-di-resin-pressure-vessel-canister-3-4-bspt-ports.html

I'm hoping to stick with the 12mm push fit as it's less leaky than hoselocks.

Would this work in the DI ports? It doesn't say it's tapered which the ports are.

If that would fit the DI then I could have these to for the tube and I have all the other parts I would need then...

The idea is for 1 to be tapered (in this case the ports) and the other not to be so the threads 'tighten' up and seal against each other. So the reducer should be fine. Just don't over tighten it and use liquid PTFE sealer to ensure a lak free 'join'.

I think the other adaptor you linked to will be fine as well.

Thanks guys, wonderful advice as always.

Never heard of liquid PTFE before, only ever used the tape. Away to Google it....
