I need some help with this pressure washer please lads!!

my new (second hand) pressure washer turned up today. I'm a complete novice with all this so you'll have to excuse the stupid questions!

I've unpacked it, checked the oil, put fuel in, gone to start it and the pull cord won't pull out more than 3-4 inches? It just sort of jams, and will retract fine. There is no attempt to turn over or anything ( I don't think it comes out far enough for that)

Is there something I should be doing to release it? Or is there a bigger problem here?

It's a Honda gp200 if that helps.

word of advice i leanred after snapping many pull cords dont ask me the logic but works for me... when i start up i have lance one hand with trigger in then pull it makes a big diffference

Agree with williams. It sort of 'decompresses' the system.
