I use a swivel too. Wouldn't be without it. You just need to give it time and master it. I have hot water, but even with cold I find if you soak bird muck first, do another window then come back then it's easy to remove. No need to use brush stock. I have no problem doing sills either, and in fact downstairs I find it Easter to do sills with a swivel. Especially when the window is close to a wall or fence.
