Can anyone recommend the best all round lightest brush please? I have an slx 25, and most of my work can be done using an slx 18. So I'm going to purchase an slx 18 and a lighter brush, and just use the slx 25 as and when.. ps thank you to all who contributed to a recent post on the xtreme. I was going to purchase the xtreme 25, but there's no way I'd have the time, patience or discipline for the maintenance involved. Thanks again.

Not quite sure on the brush. It's a gardiners and was recommended on the other forum. I don't go on there anymore, not even to search my history ?. I also have a sill brush, but find it a bit weighty.

All depends on how light you want or need to go to, I am heavy handed and the Xtreme brushes although very light are lucky if they used to last me 10 weeks before the stock was trashed on the ends from catching window reveals, My brush of choice is the Ultimate DuPont bristled brush my first one lasted me 5 months of daily use.

I have used an extreme brush in the past, it is extremely light almost to the point of not even feeling you have a brush on the end. Admittedly I am not heavy handed myself so mine lasted a year. I then bought a phantom horse hair from WCW and although a great brush for scrubbing it is heavy at 300g hence why I stopped using it. I now have an ultimate flocked and I’m enjoying that at the mo, about 170g so a decent weight to handle, what I would say though I use an over the top rinse bar and this brush seems to perform better with plenty of water on the bristles, when I used it originally with 2 pencils it wasn’t as good. My next brush will be the ultimate DuPoint mentioned above that looks spot on. But for lightest brush there is then the extreme is your one. If your a bit heavier handed probably ultimate DuPont.

My current brush is an ultimate dupoint but I’m going back to an extreme. I’ve felt too sore in my shoulder the past week. Extremes might not last that long but they are a dream to work with

Thanks for that. Sounds like an extreme is worth a pop. I'm not heavy handed either, so is probably a good shout.
Be sure and order a few brush bumpers. They don’t last forever, but they help the brushes last longer so personally think they are worth the investment. And don’t bother heating them. My current ones I got on by just pulling hard. I hope by not heating them they’ll last longer this time.

(Personally uses a Extreme for my  maintenance work and love it. Use a flocked for heavily soiled).

Also using a pole bigger than you need on a daily basis won't do you any favours at all I am only 5ft and used to use a 25ft all day then switched to a series 2 Xtreme pole almost 3 years ago now and I can reach most of my work easily somedays I could near enough manage with an 18ft pole but it's just those few jobs through the day over connys etc.

Yes the right brush also plays a part but take the base section off your 25ft for the time being until you get an SLX -18and you will be surprised how much lighter it feels

The Gardiners Xtreme Dupont hybrid brush will be coming out soon, so therefore will be the lightest option and have the benefit of Dupont bristles.
I have a pre - production one arriving this week for testing.

Will that 18 be your daily pole? I currently use a 28 as mine. I’ve thought about going down to a 22 or 25 but I’d really struggle getting to awkward windows above connys etc and most 3 storey stuff. I’ve even thought about getting a 22 with a couple of extensions but I’d probs end up leaving the extensions on to save faffing about and make it heavier than what I use now.

Yes mate 18’ covers around 85% of my round, we carry two Slx18, also slx22  and a ,slx25 for townhouses plus 3 extensions  for 4 storey work.

The extreme is is purely for myself as my arthritis is getting worst so lighting all equipment.

I also use an SLX 18 for about 80% of my work and a 22 for the rest. Anything higher I don’t do. Got a full round without having the need to go higher.
