I have a number of houses where I have to stand the ladder on steep sloping grass plus loads of houses with decking. Obviously, these situations can be quite dangerous, particularly in wet weather. I am looking at these grass and decking grippers. They look pretty good, but expensive for what they are. Has anyone tried them?

I have not used them. but, if they make you feel more safe on a ladder then a must buy I'd say. Can only help with confidence when running up and down the bars all day... They look fairly simple. Something that could be thrown together on a forming machine in a factory in no time!.

Those things are good but they wont work of the decking is going a different direction (as not parallel to the windows if you understand me, i have one of these they work in all conditions even with wet decking it amazing and ice n snow etc, its one of the best things i have bought for my trad set-up well well worth the price tag!

Cheers WJC....laddermates do look good. Is it a faff to connect them to the ladder or quick and easy

It doesn't take long only like 3 seconds me thinks you do have to make sure the vertical bits are against the rung, just pull the ladder back a bit more, you can use ladders slopes that wouldn't be safe otherwise.absolutely brill!

I diasagree. I have a set of these & they can be used if the decking is going the other way. It shows you how on a diagrame on the side of them & works just as well. Great for decking & on grass & would not say there that expensive especially when they can save yer having a bad accident.

That's the problem with all these gizmos as no will work well on every type of surface.

I've found the safest gizmo to use especially slippery surfaces like wet decking (even diagonal laid decking in the pic), pavers, wet grass etc to be an ankalad.

The ankalad blue outriggers are permanently bolted to the ladder that folds in flat to the stiles when not in use. Great if you are like me and forget stuff so no excuses not to use it as it’s on the ladder already.

Good to know ankalad stays on at all times, didnt know this thought u might have to take them off, that would be a pain. Love your little caption "Health & Safety doesn't cost, it pays!

Keep safe folks as no job is worth your life.."

The caption was suggested by other members as I'm always banging on about H&S /emoticons/biggrin.png
