Grime in water tank

Hi all. Noticed that water is not coming out my brush head. So I took it all apart and cleaned out. Worked fine. Two days later, no pressure again. I think it's because I have lots of grime and green algae inside the tank in my van, causing it to clog the jets in my brush. How can I clean this tank out??

Milton tablets ... I read there left in overnight, then give it a good rinsed . Not sure the ratio though.

Thank you. I'll look into that. So do I just leave a little water in bottom of tank and chuck some tablets in? As this will contaminate the water.

Fill your tank to the top with tap water , then add your tablets, leave overnight. Empty then rinse with tap/pure water , to the top , empty then fill for work .

Personally I would use a wet vac, suck all the gunk out. Fill tank and flush. You could add some hypo to the mix ( not through your filters though) run through the system and rinse again.

It is concerning you have gunk in your tank will mean your water isnt pure.

As above, hypo but disconnect filters and di, leave few hours then flush. Then hose down inside with a high pressure nozzle on garden hose and if possible lie tank upside down and drain it then flush with pure

You will also need to wash your pump filter. Once you have the tank cleaned out, I suggest that you throw a duvet over it to keep the sunlight out as its sunlight which is causing the growth of Algae.

The first setup I had was on an 'open' trailer frame. I had to wash those tanks (3 x 125 liters) every couple of weeks in summer to get the green out.

As you empty your tank air is drawn in to replace the water and the air is full of micro organisms. Quite why they thrive in sterile water is beyond my comprehension but they do.

For me, removing the tank to clean it would be a major operation. On a couple of occasions I squirted 1/2 a bottle of bleach into half a tank of water and left it without issue. (If you do this then please use protective clothing and eye protection in case of splashes.)

I reasoned that chlorine is what kills stuff in our drinking water. We also used to give our swimming pool in South Africa a shock treatment of chlorine if the pool started to go green after a thunderstorm.

Chlorine also breaks down in sunlight.

I have a length of 15mm plastic water pipe; this stuff

This pipe is stiff but does bend. Its used to replace 15mm copper water pipe. I tape a piece of cloth onto the end with ducktape and I find I can clean into the back of the tank behind the tank baffles. Once that's done we 3/4's fill the tank (with tap water) and add the rest of the bottle of bleach and drive around. As the water sloshes about it distributes that bleach everywhere. Let is stand of a couple of hours.

We use transfer hose to siphon the water out onto the drain.

We fill our tank with a 1" transfer hose. It gets coupled up to the hose from the transfer pump at the garage door. The end that goes into the filler gets ducktaped up to a small ali pole so the end of the hose touches the bottom of tank of the van. We fill the hose with water with the transfer pump, uncouple it at the garage door and put the end into the drain off the roof next to the garage door.

Water will siphon quite quickly from the tank. We stand in the van and hold the pipe at the bottom sucking up muck as it goes. Squirt the tank with a hose pipe, fill it and siphon that water out again.

Having a small pressure washer may help but I don't own one. I've found the Hozelok adjustable spray nozzle is a good substitute.

The tank is in my van. It hasn't effected the ppm readings with the grime in it, but better safe than sorry. Want to clean it out this weekend. I can't get the ta k out of the van, so will empty it and try some of the suggestions! Thanks.

Also no need to rinse with pure water, once cleaned out and flushed any dribbles left will be reduced to 000 when you refill the tank with pure. Dont waste filtered water on it.

My tanks in my van all I do is get an old mop run it round the inside of the tank while it's just under a quarter full and then connect an old bit of pipe to the tank outlet and drain it all out. To stop in bloke you brush jets put a filter on both sides of pump..

You will also need to check the filter on your pump as this is most likely clogged up as well .

When I had this problem years ago with my 300L tank ,l half filled with tap water and added 4bottles of Milton sterilising fluid and continued to fill left overnight,

I didn't pump it out I drained it and flushed the tank with tap water after,it will be an ongoing problem clear tank and sunlight would not have a clear tank again .l know the water is clean but it looks bad
