I'm investing in a wfp system and would like an answer in regards to some people iv heard of who use tanks outside to sort out the water purification and then pump it into the van tank why is that and do you still use resin as I assumed the actual system did that all in the van after filling the tank with normal tap water?

Some choose 'delivery only system in the van. Tank pump controller and perhaps DI vessel for fine finishing.

The 'home' tank is usually as large as possible. Around 1000 liters where the van tank may only be 250-350 liters to comply with payload regulations. Benefits are if you run out of water you shootnhome and top up.

Mine is a van mount. RO - DI etc and I 'plug in' each night to fill. I have 500L tank and this covers my day. However I am adding another van in August so will switch to home production as the new van will have just 350 liter tank.

I use an I.b.c storage tank and love it.
The main reason for me is having 2-3 days spare water, so if anything breaks I have that time to order parts and sought it.
I also like it as I have a lot more room in my garage to tinker with the filters etc than in my van, and hence, more room in the van for trolleys etc.
The r.o and d.i are in the garage, so its just a case of pumping it into the van using a transfer pump.
Doing it this way also means I do not require any external ports on my van. I have a tap in the garage and a waste pipe going through the wall and into my drain

All of the above. Your best option mate is to use the search option on here and type in the question you require. This subject has been covered many times, so theres no point re typing it all when the answers are available on here. Good luck by the way.
I'll look how you got on tomorrow. Its Saturday, so its pub time now

TDS is your first priority from your tap, then decide in regards to purification what you would need. ie RO or just resin. So a TDS meter would be your first expense.

No I have a 20" RO first then an 11 DI. I only change resin every six to eight months but I have good tap water at 150ppm

I chose delivery system only in van, because our tds is over 300. So I have a 400 in van and 800 pure in shed ready to transfer.
