Hi, I'm going to be using my garage for something else so I've decided to put my ibc in a shed in the garden.

From measurements it should fit (hopefully!) and then I was just going to mount the filters etc on the wall of the shed.

But one thing I'd not thought of is frost, am I going to have problems with the filters/pump etc? The shed door does have a bit of a gap in it at the top....

6x4 shed but it has double doors that open out, that pretty much cover the side of the shed...

Why not line the shed with king span . With a small oil filled radiator for the really frosty nights ...just a thought????
I think that might be an option, I just didn't want to lose any space in there or the IBC won't fit!

If you think kingspan is going to reduce the space too much you could try a thin insulation alternative

You should do what I do When things freeze up! Stay in bed until 10am, then get up and have a mug of tea and head out at 10.30am! Frost free and no stress

What happens when it don't defrost and you end up with an iceberg as a tank /emoticons/biggrin.png

My ro is in a little plastic shed with my little tank next to it owwwww winters going to be fun , anything freezes for me it's kettle on and poured over slowly to defrost /emoticons/smile.png

Trying to prevent or fight nature is completely pointless fellas! Smurf will tell ye, I've said this many times before!

Spoken by the man who want to fit a immersion heater to his van tank :giggle:

Nice one..

Ro's, filter housings, pumps etc can get damaged if the water inside them freezes so is always a good idea to make sure they are protected from frost somehow...

I was thinking of sacking a fish tank heater in my 210 ltr water butt. What you recon smurf? Would get it to about 28 degrees c

Holding tanks I'm not that worried about myself but I suppose you could use a fish tank heater to keep the frost at bay.

How about if you don't have a static system and you fill up straight to your van each time you need the water? Is there anyway of having a heater in there without having to run an extension lead out to the van overnight?

Thanks guys, think I'm gonna see if I can use Kingspan and a small oil heater in there. On another note, I need to get my IBC over the fence but the fence panels on my garden don't look like they are easily taken off... any idea on what I can use to lift it over (other than a load of people). It's by an alleyway which is quite wide so I could get something down there to lift it!

The metal base ones weigh a ton so I had to strip mine right down to get into the back garden by lifting the big bits over the back gate by myself. Next time I will arrange for help as are a pig to move about /emoticons/biggrin.png
